Thermopolae Class Battleship; Updated 10-20-08

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

alright, I have the main hull done, and unless some big problem crops up, the armament is done except for tweaking. I haven't added ablatives yet, so if you have suggestions there, now's the time. otherwise, I think I will use the same type of ablatives I did on the mark 2. also, the sides are a little bloated, but I have no idea how to take care of that without removing the hangar bays.

edit: the layering error on the bottom middle weapons turret has been fixed

Hey hey this ship pretty awesome, the only thing i can complain at are the engines/exhaust areas. They seem out of place.

thumbs up to you.

I'm thinking about extending the nacelles and using wider engines that take up more of the back. yes? no?

Well, this ship is certainly a far cry from your first ships. Goob job, you deserve it.

A definite improvement over the other ship. The back of those engines bother me though as well as the front ablatives.

It's very nice looking, not so sure about the little engine tips though, it just break the whole theme you have going there with the curves and such. I'm liking it though.

As others have said, it's very nice. My only nitpick is the aegis deflector lines. They kind of spiderweb out and detract from the ship's general profile.

Try putting some the Aiges in the intersections of the, well, what I'll call "Reactor/Exhaust" lines. Other than that, no complaints at all.

I finally found the motivation to get some more work done on the Thermopylae, and this is what I've come up with. the engine pods behind the reactor have been completely redesigned, I added a little more outlining, and cleaned up the aegis lines. I've got some stuff I need help on.

first, I need to figure out how to make the transition from the power conduit to the engines, and I need to know which outlineed part looks better. the outlined hole in the ship is the outlining I just added. should I do the rest of the outlining like that?

In the future, I plan to finish the outlining on it, and replace the 16's in the power conduits with aegised doosections. also needs to be armed/rearmed.

I love the landing bays, and the two gaps are very nice. Personally never make thrusters one color that intense but the conduits make up for it.

The engines killed the improvement.

A thought for the engines.
Leave everything inwards of the hangarbays alone. Lop off everything extending beyond them.
That should result in a smaller engine, and a better outline.

I could, however, be wrong. So if you do this, save it as a variant instead of overwriting the original.
Mildly sane.

Update!
I haven't finished the hull around the engine, but that's what I'm going to build around. new part on top, compared to the old part below. tell me if it's better.

Update: More Pics!!!!!!!
still needs more outlining work, and there are lots of mirroring errors I'm sure (I already caught a bunch). More C&C people!
