After the end of the Galactic Terran-Nanz war that resulted in massive losses on both sides (the destruction of civilization on Terra from a Nanz conversion bomb and conversely the destruction of the Alien Nucleus which formed the backbone of their invasion causing a general Nanz retreat), the human race, for lack of a common enemy, has splintered into several different factions each with their own ideologies. Foremost among the factions competing for galactic dominance are the Republic of New Terra, the Polaris Confederacy, the Sovereignty of Valoria, the Alliance of Free Stars, and the Cygnian Warlords. Each faction has developed their own technologies and combat philosophies. The Republic emphasizes defense; the Confederacy specializes in ranged attacks and sabotoge of the enemy's weapon systems; The Sovereignty reigns in all-out firepower; The Alliance attacks in swarms and the Cygnians use weapons banned by intergalactic treaties (Kinetic missiles, orbital laser bombardment systems and other such WMDs).

Republic of New Terra
A highly bureaucratic nation based in the Alpha Centauri star system, on the planet now known as New Terra after Earth, or Old Terra was struck with a conversion bomb. The Republic hopes to recreate the splendour of Old Terra and pre-War Terran civilization. To do so, it must re-establish law and order throughout all of Terran space. Its other primary priority is to ensure that they have the military strength to resist pirates, dangerous rogue factions like the Sovereignty of Valoria, and any future Nanz incursion should they be foolish enough to attack again. The Republic is currently the most powerful and organized faction; its central position in Terran space grants it a huge resource base, but at the same time it also has more fronts to defend. The colours of the republic are gold on light gray.

New Terran Ships
The Republic strives to emulate the broadside style of the wet navies of old. Although, most of their ships are capable of laying down a powerful frontal barrage as well. Their ships have the lowest speed of the factions, but the highest defense and adequate firepower. New Terrans are the only faction to make extensive use of deflector technology but they rely on their heavy armour more than anything else to weather the fight. Because of the Republic's ample resources and organization, New Terran warships are generally built to a higher standard than other factions' ships of a similar weight class. The New Terran Fleet is the most coherent of all the factions' fleets.

Ships:
Image

Stiletto-class Corvette
Of all the ships in the Old Terran Fleet, the Zelus class of patrol craft was perhaps the most well known. Although small, they were fast, cheap, reliable and carried firepower disproportionate for their size. In fact, the Stiletto class is a upgraded version of the venerable craft. Carrying the same armament and maintaining the same top speed, the Stiletto has higher total armour and will not go into hull shock when a section is destroyed, a signifcant improvement. Also, a light particle gun was added, with a slow firing rate making it suitable for catching the occasional stray shot but should not be relied upon. The only downside as compared to the Zelus is that its side pulse guns are somewhat easier to shoot off.

Javelin-class Bombardier Frigate and Javelin-class Fleet Tender
The Javelin fulfills the fire support role in the New Terran Navy. It uses salvaged Nanz technology to deliver a withering barrage of pulsar fire. It requires protection from the other New Terran ships to function properly however.

A variant of the Javelin class bombardier, the Javelin Fleet tender, keeps the fleet battle-ready at all times. You can never know when some foolish pirates jump out of nowhere.

Gladius-class Heavy Destroyer
The Gladius class of destroyers is the mainstay of the New Terran Navy. While not as fast as the destroyers of other factions, its armour is remarkable and its deflectors can render its prow invulnerable. The Gladius cannot bring much firepower to bear on any one target, but it can engage enemies in three directions at once. Combined with its defenses the Gladius poses a serious threat to smaller ships.

Epee-class Fast Destroyer
The Epee is a fast close-range attacker, and with its accurate weapons is the perfect choice for quick surgical strikes. It is armed with four mining beams and a powerful Royal Cannon. The Royal Cannon is often dubbed the "King of Guns" due to its high damage, accuracy, range and uninterceptability. The Epee's weaknesses are targetable thrusters, lack of deflectors, lower grade armour and its short range.

Falchion-class Battleship
The Falchion is the backbone of any New Terran battle group. Rugged and reliable, Falchion battleships have served the New Terran Navy well for decades. With deflectors and ablative armour, it can withstand enourmous amounts of punishment as well as give out some of its own with gatling blasters and beamers. The only drawback of the Falchion is its weaker manuverability compared to other battleships.

Claymore-class Dreadnought
This line of battleships broke new ground in warship engineering. Compared to existing battleships, it is so large and so overwhelmingly powerful that it is designated as a dreadnought. For New Terrans, the Claymore represents the pinnacle of their superiority. Its primary armament are 3 dual Royal Cannon turrets with a 270 degree firing arc, allowing all 6 barrels to fire when the Claymore turns its fearsome broadside on an enemy. Backing up the Royal Cannons are broadside missile tubes, blasters and lasers. Pulse guns protect the dreadnought from close-range attack. Currently, there are three Claymores in service: the NTS Claymore, the NTS Excalibur, and the NTS Tyrfing. However, the construction of three more dreadnoughts are underway.

Yeoman-class Carrier
The Yeoman provides heavy fire-support from its numerous drone bays. It can also saturate an area with two drone pod launchers. Its Demeters can deal up to a third extra damage than a normal demeter drone, making it very dangerous in combat. Perhaps its most useful ability is the nanomatrix repair module which makes it perfect for fleet-based support. The Yeoman, however, is relatively vulnerable for such a large, slow target and will not last long alone.

Polaris Confederacy
The Polaris Confederacy is a conglomerate of corporate states, named after the star system where the Act of Confederation was first signed. So, unlike the Republic it is very decentralized and emphasizes the actions of the individual. The Confederacy is a highly capitalist nation where everything can be given a money value. Intelligence is also highly valued. The brilliant among the Polarisans could expect to rise quickly in their ranks despite their upbringing, while the talentless sink to the bottom, with only their family and friends to help them. This is the Confederacy's ideal of equality. The Confederacy is very eager to trade with other factions, and rare is the (populated) star system where one does not find a Confederate Starport busy with freighters shuttling about. However, the Polaris Confederacy has a common enemy with the Republic in the Sovereignty of Valoria, whose expansionist schemes threaten Confederate trade lines. The Confederacy is currently ruled by a council representing the interests of the individual states that make up the faction. The colours of the Confederacy are blue and white.

Confederate Ships:
The Polaris Confederacy makes extensive use of railguns and missile launchers. Not surprisingly, Confederate ships prefer to engage targets from a range. With all the railguns that the Confederate Navy possesses, it is not surprising that it often tries to defeat its opponents by disarming their ships and forcing them to surrender. It can also dominate its opponents through the use of Inuk-class support destroyers and their two Frosch guns as well. The Confederate Navy's greatest weakness is a general lack of ability to withstand a determined flanking assault. As the Confederacy is made up of several different corporate states, their ships tend not to be very similar in shape.

Ships:
Image

Tundra-class Escort Carrier
The Tundra is the only carrier in active service in the Confederate fleet. These mini-carriers are useful for dealing with small fast targets like pirate raiders.

Husky-class Interceptor Corvette
The Husky is the Confederacy's main defense against fast assault corvettes. Equipped with 3 hailstorm blasters (med-low DPS, high deviation, fast firing speed), the Husky is able to land shots on enemy corvettes even at full speed. The Husky is not as capable in the capital-ship flanking role as other corvettes, but it does a respectable job nonetheless.

Harpoon-class Missile Frigate
The small but deadly Harpoon is perhaps the most feared ship in the Confederate Navy, although that may be because it is always deployed in numbers. Serving as the fire support for the Confederacy, these ships fire two salvos of unguided rockets which can tear down the armour of space stations and capital ships in little time. Obviously, the ballistic rockets are not suitable for attacking fast ships.

Auk-class Railgun Destroyer
The Auk is another long-range combatant with a deadly triple-railgun barrage. It can strip other ships of their weapons very quickly, but lacks the equipment to deal with close-range opponents.

Inuk-class Support Destroyer
The Inuk-class is very important to the Confederate Fleet. With two Frosch guns apiece, these destroyers can paralyze a small fleet. It has a reverse-engineered Nanz Impeder module for fleet-level defense, and its armour is relatively heavy for a Confederate ship allowing it to take some punishment.

Ursa-class Assault Destroyer
Ursas are the primary brawlers the Confederacy uses. Four scatter beams and a ballistic rocket launcher give it that close-range punch lacking on other confederate ships. Its deflectors acquired from the Republic of New Terra give it staying power. However, the Ursa's point defence guns are very easy to destroy.

Glacier-class Experimental Destroyer
A ship designed to test experimental wave-emitter technology. Firing a stream of tachyonic waves at high speed, the wave-emitter and shred any projectiles in its way at the cost of some of the wave's integrity. It is intended to supplement the Ursa destroyer in the close-range attack role.

Vostok-class Battlecruiser
Along with the Inuk destroyer, the Vostok serves as the Confederacy's shield. It is not exceptionally powerful but it can soak up more damage than other ships. In keeping with the Confederacy's combat philosophy, the Vostok has a lancet gun to destroy enemy turrets.

Shiva-class Battleship
The Shiva is the command ship of any large Confederate fleet. It stays in the back issuing orders and providing heavy fire support with 6 missile banks, 2 ballistic rocket launchers, and 2 railguns. Even if it is attacked, the Shiva has plenty of armour in the front, but it cannot do much if it is attacked from the rear. Thus there is a need for protection by smaller ships.

Sovereignty of Valoria

The Sovereignty of Valoria is a mighty nation. Founded by King Heimdall, Valoria rose from the ashes of the Terran/Nanz war to become a major galactic power. After the war, the Old Terran Federation was scattered into pieces, and Heimdall, a charismatic but volatile admiral with a deep resentment towards the bureaucratic and slow government system, took his fleet commandeered by like-minded captains to the distant Aldebaran star system. The social and political system in ruins as it was, there was little High Command could do to stop this rogue fleet. Heimdall promised his followers security and quick, decisive action to stop any threat to his new nation, Valoria. Under his rule, Valoria flourished and begun a massive project to expand its borders. Having constructed a massive terraformer ship, Heimdall started the expansion of the Sovereignty of Valoria that continues to this day.

Valorians value courage and power above all else. They literally have the power to change worlds with their terraformers, so the expansion rate of the Valorian populace into other worlds far outstrips that of the Republic, even though the latter still has more resources and manpower. This rapid expansion of what is essentially a dictatorship is considered by the Republic of New Terra to be a very dangerous threat to a harmonious galactic human civilization. The colour of the Valorian emblem is orange-red, representing the brillant fiery hue of the star Aldebaran.

Valorian Ships:
The Royal Navy of Valoria's (RNV) warships boast the highest firepower out of the five fleets. The Valorian solution is a very simple one: blanket the enemy with blaster and laser fire. Like the Confederacy however, many of their ships are vulnerable to flanking attacks which is why the Valorians have fitted their ships with alternate configurations that are armed with quad blasters instead of gatling and regular blasters. The RNV's defenses are not as good as other fleets, lacking a dedicated defensive ship. Nevertheless, there usually is not much left of the enemy on the receiving end of an attack by a Valorian fleet. The Valorians have a unique weapon: the tachyonic-based "flamethrower" which is a highly damaging close-range weapon that tears ships from the inside out. Valorian ships are easily distinguished by their "wings," which as one captain puts it, "All the better for placing more weapons."

Ships:
Image

Firefly-class Corvette
Armed with a pair of shock beamers, the Firefly can serve in an anti-corvette role protecting the capital ships from smaller flankers, or as a hit-and-run craft. These ships add an extra punch to any attack, and their versatility makes them a welcome addition to any fleet.

Firebrand-class Gunship
This light warship delivers a lot of projectile firepower. Small, cheap and easy to deploy from stations, the Firebrand is a staple of any Valorian garrison. Valorians have little need for fancy high-tech equipment like those the Polaris Confederacy uses, or the energy shields of New Terra, they just bring more guns and more ships.

Ash-class Bombardier
The Ash class of long-range bombardment ships fires two long ranged unguided tachyon bolts that can deal damage to the insides of a ship. They can be very useful for destroying large ships from the inside out. Two point beams are placed for fleet protection; they won't help much against enemies attacking the Ash directly as it has very little armour.

Thunderbolt-class Assault Destroyer (w/quad config)
The Thunderbolt-class destroyer is the workhorse of the Valorian war machine. Equipped with low-grade ablative armour at the front and with wide sweeping wings, it is not designed to take hits. But it certainly deals them out. Thunderbolts literally rain blaster fire on the enemy making them very dangerous against any ship without flak guns. A homing laser torpedo system provides even more firepower. Thunderbolts can be reconfigured to use quad blasters instead of gatling blasters if there is a need for them (for example, many fast flankers).

Cinder-class Proximity Destroyer
While Thunderbolts provide suppression fire, Cinder-class destroyers can warp in and wreak havoc in the middle of enemy fleets. Only a few specially selected personnel are authorized to captain this destroyer, since it is the ultimate symbol of courage to be able to use one. Cinders are not particularly well armoured, nor do they have any point defence, but they are equipped with three Valorian-unique "flamethrowers" which can destroy ships from the inside out. This means that the Cinder's role is capital ship hunting: jump into an enemy fleet, destroy the largest ship, and then proceed by destroying ships in order of size. Simulations have shown that a pack of Cinders can destroy a Claymore dreadnought in a matter of seconds by firing their flamethrowers at the back which is close to the core. But, jumping into the middle of an enemy fleet with only a few destroyers with no PD or deflectors is almost invariably an act of suicide, and so Cinder captains are held in utmost respect for they are without question the bravest of them all.

St. Elmo-class Support Destroyer
The St. Elmo supports the rest of the fleet by launching decoy drones to distract enemy PD, and is the only Valorian ship to be equipped with a deflector enhancing its survivability. However, despite being a support destroyer, its two flak guns are not nearly enough to provide fleet-level defense. It's main ability is distracting PD, so it is an "offensive" supporter (increases allies' damage output) instead of a defensive supporter (reduces enemies' damage output).

Vulcan-class Main Battleship (w/quad config)
The standard battleship used by the RNV, the Vulcan has a long and proud history. When the Sovereignty of Valoria was officially founded, it was in need of a suitable battleship to resist the forces of the emerging Republic. The Vulcan of course was the result. Very Valorian in design, the Vulcan emphasizes firepower over defense with its beamer and blaster batteries.

It is considered by some commentators to be "nothing more than an upsized Thunderbolt." Indeed, building a few Vulcans is generally less cost-effective than a pack of Thunderbolts, so there are those calling for the retirement of the battleship in favour of more destroyers and Etna-class battleships (which have more PD). The Kings of Valoria have never opted for such a path because the Vulcan is too iconic of Valorian might to even consider such a thing.

Etna-class Torpedo Battleship
The other class of battleship used by the RNV, the Etna launches boosted, upgraded plasma launchers. It is remarkably effective at destroying turrets with the area-effect explosions of its plasma torpedoes. Also, the Etna carries with it four PD guns giving it more staying power than the Vulcan, although it still cannot survive a prolonged bombardment. A gluon bolter enhances its bombardment role even further. There is much debate about the merits of the two Valorian battleships and which should be the true "standard" battleship, but in reality both perform quite similarly as both focus their heavy firepower in the front.

Phoenix-class Royal Flagship
The current King, Heimdall II, recently unveiled the largest Terran warship in existence, the RNV Juggernaut-class Phoenix. With a wingspan longer than the Falchion's length, and a length equal to that of the Claymore, the Phoenix is a marvel of engineering and technology. It also pretty much ended the Vulcan-Etna debate as it was based on the Vulcan hull, and the King's word is law. The Phoenix is the flagship of the first RNV fleet. It is commanded by Prince Beowulf, the Grand Admiral of the RNV and eldest son of Heidmall II.

The Phoenix is often touted by Valorians as the symbol of their nation's supremacy, especially over the Republic of New Terra. However, in fact it's combat ability is around the same as a single Claymore dreadnought. What the Phoenix does represent, however, is the result of the expansion of Valoria's resource base from their terraforming project, which allows them to remain a major power.

Image
Terraformer testing its "flamethrowers."

Valorian Terraformer
Terraformers such as this one form the backbone of Valoria's quick rise to galactic power. They are largest Terran ships of any kind in existence, and are such out of neccessity, since they have the equipment neccessary to terraform an entire planet. Six modified "flamethrower" cannons are used to scorch the planet's surface and atmosphere during the terraforming process, but they can easily be used to destroy space stations as well. As well, their armour is extremely heavy to protect itself during the terraforming process. Although terraformers can be used as siege machines, they are prohibitively slow and are too valuable for Valoria to use them as such.

Alliance of Free Stars

As civilization began to flourish again after the Galactic War, the outer colonies which were the most devastated by the Nanz were the last to be repopulated. These colonies were unwanted by any of the other factions, even though they had many resources that could be harvested from the nebulae and asteroids. Most people did not want to live in a place far away from civilization, that was hard to defend due to its distance from other colonies, and would surely be the first place to fall in the event of another alien invasion. For exiles, refugees and outlaws, though, the abandoned star systems represented a chance for a new life. In the midst of the power struggles back in "civilised" star systems closer to Sol, the Alliance of Free Stars was born consisting of the outer colonies that were independent of any other faction.

The member colonies of the Alliance are governed by guilds. Each guild represents a different trade, such as star mapping, gas harvesting, asteroid mining and so forth. Decisions affecting the entire Alliance are determined by a council consisting of the leaders of each guild, but otherwise the colonies are more or less independent.

For the colonists of the Alliance, survival is the most important issue. Because the outer edges of the galaxy are a natural haven for outlaws, travelling around in the outskirts of known space is very dangerous. As well, many star systems have not yet been mapped and so each year, there are colonists who go missing. Travelling in a nebula whether as a shortcut or to harvest gas is another dangerous proposition, since sensors are limited and meteors storms have taken on many wanderers by surprise. Because of these and many other dangers, Alliance members will naturally help other members in need, and sometimes even outsiders who get lost as well. The people living in the Republic and Valoria tend to have a romantic notion of the lifes of people living outer colonies, in a way similar to the pastoral literature of Old Terra. Of course that could not be farther from the truth. The colour of the Alliance is green.

Alliance Ships
As the Nanz retreated from the galaxy, they left behind many derelict ships and stations floating around in the outskirts of known space. The first colonists stumbled upon these alien wrecks, and the technology found in them gave them the ability to produce weapons to defend themselves from pirates and eventually from the Alliance. Therefore, the Alliance tends to use weapons reverse-engineered from the Nanz. The Alliance's ships also seem to have been influenced by alien technology; they look nothing like the traditional "Terran-style" warships of New Terra or Polaris. The warships of the Free Stars are among the fastest in the galaxy, since they have to travel longer distances between colonies. However, most of the Alliance's ships are not very tough.

The Alliance remains neutral throughout the current conflict, but if provoked is a very dangerous enemy as it tends to attack in swarms. The Alliance's weaponry is designed to attack the opponent from all angles (demeters, weasels, sidewinders) and combined with its swarm attack philosophy, no single enemy warship will last long against it. Strength is found in numbers, and the Alliance epitomizes that concept.

Ships:
Image

SF-34 "Flea" Fighter
Fleas are one-seater fighters with high speed but very low survivability. Armed with a pair of sidewinders they are surprisingly heavily armed for their size but they do not usually last long. Nevertheless, the courageous Flea pilots are the Alliance's first and last line of defence, and in a fleet battle where larger ships are likely to be targeted over a tiny fighter, a squadron of Fleas can make all the difference.

Cicada-class Corvette
These fast strikers pack a pair of tachyons and an extended-range mining beam. Although great for harrassment these Cicadas lack the sheer punishing power of Stiletto or Firefly corvettes since they deal damage spread out around an entire target rather than focused damage on one section. Most Alliance ships, not just the Cicada, deal spread-out damage (which is why they work well in large groups but not alone).

Arachnid-class Frigate
Arachnids are best used against clumps of enemies due to their modified weasel guns which fire more shots spread out over a large area. A Frosch gun helps keeps the enemies unable to retaliate. However, this frigate is not often used by the Alliance since it is not as effective in combat as the destroyers which are almost as fast and more powerful as well.

Locust-class Destroyer
The standard warship used by the Alliance, Locusts are faster than the destroyers of any other faction. They specialize in close range combat, however their defenses are not that great either. Locusts are equipped with a small projectile-impeding module that can affect up to 12 projectiles at once, but the effect of a single impeder is minimal. This means that Locusts work much better in groups than alone, since the effects of each of their impeders stack to effectively stop projectiles in their tracks so their PD can finish them off. Because of their speed, Locusts are excellent for capital ship harassment.

Wasp-class Destroyer
The Wasp uses exactly the same engine and impeder module as the Locust, so Locusts and Wasps can function together perfectly. The Wasp is also a close-range attacker, but instead of projectile weapons it carries four mining beams which can rapidly deal massive damage to a single section of an enemy ship. Because of this, Wasps are generally considered superior to Locusts, so the more experienced captains are allowed to command a Wasp destroyer.

Mantid-class Carrier
A destroyer-sized carrier, the Mantid provides long-ranged support to supplement the close-range power of the other destroyers. Because of the nature of their primary weapon, Mantids are always better in packs where their demeters become exponentially more effective.

Ichneumon-class Battlecruiser
The Ichneumon is a perfect example of the battlecruiser concept - it can match the speed of slow destroyers, while bristling with enough weaponry to rival a battleship. With the ability to engage the enemy at any range, the Ichneumon is an extremely versatile warship. The Ichneumon is the most commonly sighted Alliance capital ship, because the others are too slow to be moving around continuously so they are used for defending major colonies.

Antlion-class Battleship
In terms of defense, there is no Alliance ship more suited to the role than the Antlion class. Firstly, the Antlion is equipped with a pair of aegis deflectors, which have been very rarely seen since the end of the Galactic War. The Antlion can also deploy impeder platforms to provide fleet level defense and to supplement the Alliance destroyers' impeders even further. It also has decent PD of its own.

Hivespawn-class Mothership
The largest ships in the Alliance navy, the motherships defend critically important colonies from attack. They are ranged attackers, staying in the rear while deploying platforms to distract enemy ships and attacking them with drones and long-ranged sidewinders. Even if a ship manages to close in, their attacks can be repelled by the Hivespawn's aegis deflectors. Hivespawns are command ships, so each mothership is always escorted by other Alliance ships at all times. It is estimated that the number of motherships exceeds ten, so attacking the Alliance is a very foolish proposition.

Cygnian Warlords
Formerly the Cygnian Pirates, the Warlords rose in power from avoiding direct conflict in the great Galactic War. Some of the Cygnian pirates made deals with the Nanz, while others helped what remained of the Terran Federation at the time, whichever one they deemed to have the most benefit to them. As a result, the leaders among the pirates earned the title of Warlords, each commanding a single fleet of warships. The Warlords are, not surprisingly, a very militaristic faction. This is because Cygnians care for no one but themselves, and pursue their goals though force of arms. The warlords often fight among themselves as well, making the faction an unstable one, and the weakest among the five states even though their ships are not weak by any means. Although they do not usually associate with other states, the warlords sometimes trade with the Polaris Confederacy. More often though, they raid other factions' outposts and cargo freighters making them a constant threat. The Republic and the Alliance consider them to be little more than scum, and are constantly trying to hunt down Cygnian ships who raid them in return. The Confederacy is one of their few trade partners, often dealing with illegal items and large sums of money. The Sovereignty of Valoria sometimes employs the Warlords as mercenary fleets to protect their stations from the Republic of New Terra.

Cygnian Ships
The Cygnians have their own distinct, "ugly" style (which is how the other factions view the Warlords' ships) formed by modifying the structure of decommissioned Old Terran ships and adding ablative armour all over the place. Commentators from the Republic of New Terra call these creations "an insult to the name of the great warships which have served Old Terra well for many years" and "these ships are an abomination... ...they look like the Frankenstein's monster of warships." Nevertheless, one cannot deny that these ships are well armoured and have great firepower as the Cygnians have greatly improved on the ships.

Ships:
Image

Plague-class Frigate
The ship appears to be based upon the once-ubiquitous pirate ships that prowled Old Terran space. It carries the same weaponry, but has heavier armour and better speed.

Shadow-class Destroyer
The Shadow is believed to be a corrupted version of the venerable Enyo class of starships, just that the Warlords were lacking in railguns. It is a powerful close-range destroyer able to deliver a withering fusilade of missile and pulse gun fire up close.

Kali-class Destroyer
A fire-support Destroyer to complement the Shadow, and judging from its weaponry the Kali is a modification of the old Moira destroyer. However, it has been modified to allow for the addition of several drone bays which can help distract PD, increasing the effectiveness of its plasma charges.

Umbra-class Cruiser
This armoured barge is very similar to a converted freighter that pirates used as a quick-to-deploy blaster platform. The difference is, of course, the Umbra is armoured. The combination of heavy blaster fire and ablative armour plating makes the Umbra a deadly adversary in combat.

Pestilence-class Battleship
A bastardization of the Cronus battleship and the main source of New Terran grief towards Cygnian ship design, the Pestilence is even more heavily armoured than the ship it was based on, with an additional quad blaster and pulse guns to better deal with flanking enemies. The Pestilence is an extremely tough opponent, matched in defense only by the battleships of New Terra.

Eclipse-class Anti-Ship Orbital Cannon
A refitted decommissioned oribital cannon hull, the Eclipse carries an ion beam that recharges very quickly making it useful for attacking ships instead of planets. It is immensely powerful against warships, but its total lack of defenses makes it extremely vulnerable. The Eclipse is considered a low-grade WMD and thus is subject to severe restrictions regarding its deployment. Not that the Warlords really care, of course.

Despair-class Dreadnought
The Despair is one of the few purely original Cygnian designs. Its broadsides are completely fitted with ablative armour plates, making it far stronger than any other Cygnian warship. It is Warlord Geritz's personal command ship, and the power of this ship gives him a great advantage over the other warlords. The dreadnought is capable of launching massive amounts of projectile weaponry from its dual Gluon bolters and a broadside of twin-barreled plasma cannons, supplementing its staying power with a deadly offense.

Kinetic Missile
Cheap disposable hulls filled with fragments of scrap compressed into small, dense pellets, kinetic missiles are a terrorist's dream weapon. Kinetic missiles detonate upon being shot by enemy fire, releasing their pellets as deadly kinetic projectiles towards their target. Because of their reputation as terrorist weapons, the use of kinetic missiles is outlawed by inter-galactic treaties. Thus the Warlords do not directly use KM's themselves, but supply them to terrorist groups who are willing to do the warlords' dirty deeds.

How about a Grimtooth, or Arbalest. I like the names, but I like the ships even better. The Claymore is damn sexy.

Hmmm, i really like these ships.
They are 'generic' in design, but i guess if it ain't broke then don't fix it - refine it!

Any chance of posting a download linky?

The Claymore and the Falchion highly resemble Aralonian 3rd Generation warships.

Polaris Confederacy fleet added. As you see each fleet is pretty different. The Confederacy doesn't have much close range brawlers.

Thanks for the comments.

They look nice and balanced. Once again I approve of your choice of color scheme. :D

I really like the ships, keep up the good work.
No, wait, go back! Why are there six pedals if there are only four directions?

I like the Polaris ships. Oh, and another great European sword/weapon is the schianova!

Polaron vessels look like outgrowths of stock ships. I like.

The third faction, Sovereignty of Valoria, has been added! It has a heavy emphasis on firepower and borrows some of its architecture from the Nanz to form an interesting hybrid.

Ba-bump. Fourth fleet is here. No comments on Valorian ships?

Instead of extending the first post even more, I will put the remaining two fleet descriptions here and post a link on the first post.

EDIT: Alliance of Free Stars post moved to first post.

Very nice! I love all of your different fleets because they're all so different. To be able to build so many different styles of ships, From the skinny, broadsidiness look of the Republic of New Terra to the (somewhat) squat, tough look of the Polaris Confederacy to the brittle and almost insectoid look (the names really help this look) of the Alliance of Free Stars, and build them well is, frankly, quite amazing. Excellently done.
