The curvy alien fleet (downloads on first page)

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

The curvy alien fleet (downloads on first page)

Post by Water_and_Wind »

The spiritual successor to my Akkadu fleet, this fleet continues the line of generic curvy alien ships, except with Kaelis' superb mecha and alien sections and TSA's awesome Uraki sections for max alieness! Not to mention glowing cores! I am taking suggestions for weapons and naming schemes as only the hulls have been finished. I'm intending for these to be metagame-balanced.

Holy crap on a stick........................ Those look great. I like the flow you gave them. I think the first frigate and the Destroyer lose a bit of it though. Also, if you made it with metagame in mind, I think you did a good job.

Interesting, because the first frigate and the first destroyer a couple of months old and originally designed for the Syrman navy. The rest are new.

Yeah I'm surprised Arc hasn't stolen these sweet ships for the jellies.

Very nice Water and Wind, superb stuff as usual.

When he said that he designed those two ships for the Jellies, I assumed that meant WnW had at some point shown them to you.

A delightful rollercoaster for the eyes.

Oh, and nice use of glows.

I had sent you a PM but it probably got lost in your inbox. I do recall you saying that Syrmans shouldn't use SW sections but it was a long while ago.

Thanks for the comments so far! :3

Exceptional as always. The curves on the middle-back area of the jellyfish destroyer are amazing (the rest are great too).

I think the cruiser's middle glow is a bit too much though, you might want to tone that down or make it a bit smaller.

Admittedly at the time I think that's because we were lacking in good SWA sprites that would be useful for making space squid ships.

Not to say that couldn't change...

Yay. Finally. I couldn't log in for some reason yesterday.
Anyway, now I can comment. These are epic. Amazing use of sections. also, the curves are pwn.
Keep it up.

Wow. This is amazing.

Except for the cruiser, i have no real crits. Theyre perfect, and im in love.

Only one small, subjective nitpick: i like colors from the destroyer ( non-jellyfish one ) the best; i wish you had used them on all of these.

Now, as for the cruiser: the flow is fine, but i think you went to far - at this size, stuff starts to blur together and get 'flat', so you need something more to make it interesting; something special to make it stand out. But, noone forces you to make it this big, right? In fact, you could split it up into two or even three different ships. Which would be awesome.

Are you insane? Generic is the least appropriate term to describe these.

I like (?) how Arc comments twice on stuff people have said, but fails to comment on the ships themselves, not to mention praising them as deserved. Bah, humbug.

It's so curvy and flows so well...

I can't handle TSA or Mecha sprites well at all, and this... just blows away what i've done by ages.

Absolutely amazing!

I think with a split like this you could get two ships out of it.

With the front you'd get a sort of anemone-like ship and with the back you'd get something else.
