Firefly [WIP]

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Firefly [WIP]

Post by Kagu »

Alrighty, so this is -technically- my first ship. First ship to be seen by the public, anyway. As I have little experience with this stuff, I'd prefer some advice on how to improve it and such (Blah, parenting). I haven't worked on background or a race yet, so this is just an independent ship, I guess. F'now.

I'm aware that the frontal portions of the outer stabilizers look quite flimsily attached where the weasels are... That will be remedied soon, when I have some extra time. It's also most definitely not fully armed, I've just got some basic weapons on there.

This is sweet. I have no criticisms other than that it looks a bit messy in a few places.

That is odd. Also the ship kind of looks like a super-sized Cronus.

I can't remember why that happens but it has to do with cloning. What he probably has selected is one of the beamers in the front, each of which apparently does 3,000,000 damage per second. Anyway, the ship is really nice (excellent for a newbie ship), but can we get a pic without parenting lines?

very impressive ship, even more so for a first post. Fairly original design, you at least colored it, and it doesn't look overloaded with weapons. The damage is an issue, unless your going up against Seraph's ships. Otherwise I would love to see more ships to this fleet.

And you suck cuz I was hoping for the firefly class Serenity :cry:

Sorry for the uber-wank, I was pitting it against some of my earlier ships. > > It shall be fix'ed. Anyways, a pic without the parenting lines. I haven't had time to edit in your suggestions, so this is basically the old version.

@bl3d4
D'ya think I should move the pieces surrounding the weasels closer, or just stretch them out a bit?

I think that you should remove some of those weasels. There are too many of them. If you want that many weasels, then don't put them all so close together.

Or you could completely ignore bl3d4, since - as can be shown from his latest ships - he doesn't know the first thing about making a good looking ship. This is fairly decent for an early work, however, the front portion of the outer wings looks very fragile, the outlining in some areas is a little sloppy, and there's a lot of unnecessary clutter, in places.

Keep up the good work, though.

Nah, I think that the sloppy outlining is result of the zoom, and even if there is sloppy outlining, with the unnecessary clutter, it gives this awesome feeling - not quite sure how to describe it - jagged, maybe?

I love this ship.

Except that big ugly white thing. What the heck is that?
