My greatest ship... That I can't finish T_T

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

My greatest ship... That I can't finish T_T

Post by D00D! »

In the begining, there was 0.89.

Back then there lived a shipbuilder who dreamt great things, whose very hands sought to mold itself a great monument to BSF.

Then came 0.90, a massive floodgate of potential opened before the shipbulider's eyes.

In his excitement, he went on to discover great things. Triggers, drivers and links were like a new pardigram for him. All went well and soon he built the tools he needed for his great task ahead, the Dynamic Turrets.

Soon he was able to proudly display the few baby steps into his new fleet. The Lupin Yasseinookami would be a wonderful new generation of ships and he saw before him the summit of his journey. (Great times, very fun but ultimately just a trial for bigger things)

But then tragedy struck, it would seems that even the potential of the sandbox has its limits. A 160kb Tolam-Oppenheimer-Volkoff limit; one it which the very fabric of BSF cannot hope to exceed. It was a blow unlike anyother, to build a ship yet unable to create it due to sheer epicness. (I built up to the bridge of my ship and then it tells me its too big!?)

In the months (A week actually) that follow, the shipbuilder decided that 'Screw fate' and decided that there was no way he would leave his baby unfinished. So once again he set out on his long task of building, refining and constructing.

But alas fate remains cruel, the trials of real life place strain on the shipbuilder, pushing him to the very limit. At last came the final nail in the coffin. The day when even the shipmaker froze, a ship never finished... at least till a better computer comes along. (Actually I'm building a new fleet but the fact is I can't build it any bigger than frigate size D: )

TL:DR, D00D built a ship so big his computer asploded from trying to process it, now he has given up on it.

And now some pics and a few stats before I lay it in its grave...

Image\

Name: 'Masamune' Lupin Yassenookami Assualt Destroyer
Status: *TOO BIG TO EXIST*
Hitpoints: 9000, Total Hitpoints: 11837223.89
Total section used: 1395
Data size: 422kb
Armanent:
2x Orochi Missile racks
4x Splinter Cannon
4x Twin Fujinium Flak cannon
1x MASSIVE Splinter Cannon
4x Linear Cannon
2x Bombardment cannons (Cannot finish)

*Sniff* Ya were great girl, but you are just too much to handle. Say bye to your girl friends *Sniffs* BWAHHAHAHHA!!!!! T_T

So now I lay this ship in the freezer; will it ever see daylight again and emerge as a beauty? Or would it stay and be forgotten by history? Only time will tell....

PS: Yes, just PM me if you want the blueprints, I'll let you modify it if you want but its really really complex and difficult to finish. Plus your computer needs to have alot more processing power than me to build it smoothly. For now I shall now concentrate on other fleets but some day, I will build myself a nuclear-powered supercomputer and finish it!

An epic tale of tragedy to rival the Titanic.

On-topic:

The ship seems to have too much aegis, and I am not a fan of the blue/green combo you have put together there.

You do realize a ship that size would probably not have worked in BSF? Regardless of how good your PC is?

You can always split it into custom sprites or use section overs/unders to simulate some of the section swarms.

All in all, you have far more sections then you actually need filling in space where you could use bigger sections instead. Also, get rid of the horrible stretching on the front.

He put those stretched sections there to show how big the front of the ship would have been, had he been able to complete it.
Hence the "Rough estimate of final area".

Either way I don't really like it anyways. It's a clusterfuck of clutter from this distance, and the colors just don't work well.

QFT. The whole thing looks rather daft if you ask me.

PS: the limit is not filesize, it's number of lines - 3,000. Stop being a daft arse about it.

In this case, I think you'll need to resort to custom sections to take the place of the many, many groups of sections the ship has.

Umm, actually, it might as well be the filesize, or number of characters, or the average iq of wyrdysm forumite... Back when i said its 3000, that was a rough guesstimate, based on the fact that the ship i was testing started working when i trimmed it down to 3000 lines.

We'd never get anything to load if that were the case. :P

Alas the rising flood waters of my technological inability is rising though I spy a new peak from the small bank I'm on. So it is time to pack up, finish up some little things, then ductape a bunch of sections to make a bigger custom section and sail forth to the horizon!

The ship is ugly, seriously.
It's full of sections, and the colors are not pleasing.
Section spam is quite big here, a ship isn't good depending on the size, but on how it's made.
It would be better to leave everything behind.
then go get some CRYSTAL METH IN A CAN

The design is kinda nice, I like the look of the crystals growing out from within the hull. You do have massive numbers of sections though and either its zoomed out too far or the picture is poor quality but I can barely distinguish between them. You can easily fix this with some custom sections and still keep it looking like it does. I hope your eventually able to let her fly.

I've seen this ship several dozen times before, and I can honestly say... awww this ship has so much potential, and yet...
