Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!
Well, I named it Zeus (thinking of a better name ), and I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I just made it last night, so there really isn't much of a back story or description. I'm just posting to get some constructive criticism. I may or may not do color layering. I also may change the weaponry, but as of now it's fine. The main issue at the moment is the fact that, even though I selected broadside ai in the ship maker, the ship still tries to point the longest-end towards the enemy to attack it. Did I do something wrong there? Anyways, to the pictures.
The ship itself isn't bad. There is a lot of repetition, though, meaning the rounded sections you've used as ablatives. That could use some fixing. Otherwise, not bad.
EDIT; to have it broadside properly, go (in the sandbox) to the options popup (the "?" button). There, select "game options" and set Max AI Range to around 10000. That should do the trick.

This is basically the ship style that was used by most people sometime in early 2008 or late 2007 which, considering his last post was in 2007, is excusable.
On the whole, the internals are not bad, but the shape and weapon placement is pretty mediocre and bland. Also, you should really use colours (as in more then one, and probably not stock colours), it'll help a lot.
Other than that, my comment is the same as the rest:

I say just look around abit, and you may get up with the times.
It's not bad, but its not too terribly good either. It seems a bit weapon-spammy, but I suppose the size of the ship diffuses that. I also cannot get over the fact of how much like a penis it looks like.
My most recent creation-- The Arcatoa -- is a destroyer-class armed with Type-B beamers, two quad missile salvos, and an Ion Beam, specializes in medium to long range combat. It does not have ablative armor, but can hold its own in close range combat.
I think it's pretty decent. I tried to make unique shapes, and I think it turned out well. One question: How do I shade in the ship maker? I'm assuming that you go to change color and pick a color, but wouldn't that make the rest of the ship not be the player's color he picked in the game?
It's decent, and not spammy, but could do with some coloring.
If you change the color of a section, it will not affect the color of the rest of the ship, just that section. It will stay that color until you change it. If you change the core color, it will not change any other sections colors, but will revert back to its default as set in options in-game when you reload it in ship maker.
