BillyJoeBob's Ships.Strelok Experimental Super Dreadnought

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Interesting use of alien sections and curved sections in some of the ships. Definitely an organic look to them, with the blue and purple colour scheme. Well, for weapons...I'm presuming you're using something really unique here. Weasels (!), sidewinders (!), tachyons (not so !)...

I prefer the Masarr their quite unique and that's what gives them their edge. Nice use of weapons that aren't often used.

Only thing I can really fault is the difference in sizes, they're all so similar and also you may want to change the colouring on the back of the Harasser as the colours aren't matched.

Family Photo. Both fleets side by side showing their counterparts. I'm nearly done with the Masarr. Just a battleship, dreadnought, balancing and the fleet pack is out!
Also, I like the Quake Class Carrier, I've been itching to try a semi-symmetrical ship for a while now.

The two fleets actually look quite similar, just that one is more pointy and the other more curved. The Masarr look better though. If I could change one thing I would give the first fleet a new colour scheme, the current one doesn't stand out too much from the Masarr and it uses too many colours IMO. Good work though since nicely done small ship fleets are always a good thing. My fave ship is the Catastrophe.

I like both fleets. The coloring is good, and they seem from what I've downloaded, the ships seem balanced. I've got to say, though, my favorite ship is the Kottos. A swarm of those can take out almost anything, if they don't get destroyed first...
The battle was hard; 3 against 150. It took everything we had, and I was the only survivor, but we killed all three of the bastards.

The first fleet has a red, light red, and sometimes a teal highlight + player colors. The Masarr use different shades of purple + player colors. Should I simplify it to just two player colors?
Yeah, pretty much they don't look radically different.
P.S. If you don't mind, I think my new ship update for the remainder of the fleet will be introducing a new ship alongside the older equivalent. (Masarr battleship + Galaxy battleship... so on)
Edit of an edit: I've renamed my original fleet to the Axon Battlegroup. Don't ask why I called it that, I just liked it when it came to me.

Epic Post. Story time everyone!
A massive anomaly was located in Sector G79 The Federation of the Terran Worlds has ordered a scouting party to investigate, as numerous reports of lost contact with merchant shipping have originated from this area.

Image

A small task force consisting of Wasps and a Catalyst class Destroyer were dispatched to discover a wormhole in that location. A retreivable probe was launched into the wormhole and contact was lost soon after.
Unidentified craft jumped through the wormhole, and upon hailing the contacts they opened fire and were immediately deemed hostiles. The hostiles were destroyed and the taskforce suffered minor damage. The FUTW ordered a full scale fleet assembled to investigate the far side of the wormhole.

Image

The full scale battlegroup dubbed the TAF- Terran Assault Forces, Headed by Admiral Edwin Lovell of the TAF Fenrir- Defiance Class Dreadnought, was deployed through the far side of the wormhole.

The colors of the TAF are proudly shown here. Image

" Breaking News: The Federation of the United Terran Worlds has announced a new subdivsion of the military. The Terran Experimental Fleet is tasked with testing, and designing new weapon systems and hull designs for future combat."

Excerpt from the FUTW Official Newsposting:

The official announcement of the TEF Military Division has caused quite a stir among the TAF today as many wonder what new ships and designs will come out of this.

Not the best newspost I know, but I'm just commenting to say that BillyJoeBob and I have banded together to form the FUTW (Federation of United Terran Worlds) with the Terran Experimental Fleet a division under it. I'm usually a good helping hand at names, acronyms and stories, and being under a fictional government should help my motivation. So in the end, it works out for the both of us. :D

I'm currently working on a Masarr Battleship, and fleshing out the story of the FUTW - Masarr war. Tibby and I will try and combine our ships/styles and the like, to expand on the experimental subdivision of the military thing.

Excerpt from the latest announcement from the TEF

After much time and construction, the TEF has started to pump out the Warhammer Class Assault Frigates in an effort to boost the TAF's military strength. Two Warhammers tested out their combat prowess by engaging three Masarr ships after they had broken through a defensive line. Pictures were taken from a nearby newsprobe.

The top scientists in the TEF's research department have discovered a new superconducting material. Field testing has shown that this new material can increase the capacitor power by nearly 500%, allowing far more powerful pulsed charges to be fired. Yet another major breakthrough in the field of pulsed weapon technology allows multiple shots to be fired at the same time, and in succession. The TEF has unveiled a testbed craft the TES-22, dubbed ShellShock.
The Following are photographs of the test firing of the X-28 Phased Pulse Cannon.

The FUTW's shipyard at the Alpha Centari system have created a defensive outpost that, in countless simulations, can withstand a heavy Masarr assault. This station, dubbed the Phalanx, can be deployed to border colonial worlds to defend against pirate incursions and Masarr patrols.
The FUTW has released this photograph of the station to the media.

Nice circle on the station.
Not much to say about the fighter with the shotgun pulses.

The fighter was more of a test for the weapon then the fighter itself. I plan on expanding on that a bit. Also, that shotgun pulse is VERY deadly in groups of 3 or 4. Tears up ships pretty badly.

I imagine so. Can you say shield-buster?
The large assortment of ships nearer the top of the page look pretty darned good, at least at that distance.
@5 posts above, by Tibby: Those ships seems a little too covered in weapons, and they kinda look like stubby people (the feet having the quad blasters on them). The pulsar looks like it spits out too many shots at once, try cutting down on burst/clipsize and increase damage instead.
@the station, 4 posts above: I like the overall shape, though the color scheme could use some work, and the outer ring doesn't look very even.
