Yay! The first of the nomad ships are up now, and the messiah should be finished with it's trials within the week! Hmmm, seeing as how Spoot Knight's Independence destroyer eats my ships alive, I'm going to make a separate version of the Messiah to try to match his ship. I dare not push further, as my PC can't even handle his larger ships :D



New Terran Republic

::The Story So Far::
Generations have past since the conflict with the alien races, and the inhabited universe seems to be at rest. Disturbed with a rise in protest against the policies of the old confederate government, the council of nations decided that after a thousand years of stability, the system was to be reformed in the hopes of a more perfect union. Trade terms were re-arranged, and military systems were rewritten. All did not go as hoped, however, and several anti-government organizations soon became established, and took up arms against the government. In response to this the N.T.R. began a massive re-modernization effort, and the empty shipyards churned back to life. A new corporation, FireStar Shipworks, previously a simply transport manufacturer, came to the helm of the effort, with their discovery of a derelict warship lying within the outer reaches of the galaxy. Within this ship, lay an advanced and powerful weapons system, and the FireStar labs were quick to reverse engineer it to suit the needs of the NTR fleet. This came at a terrible price however, for when the ship was entered, a homing beacon was activated, summoning from the depths of empty space, a race bent on revenge.......

N.T.R. Warships
:: Dl-04 N.T.R.S. Gaia Ultimata
-The Gaia Ultimata is the largest dreadnought in the service of the NTR fleet. Constructed upon the framework of a decommissioned fleet carrier, the terran navy quickly converted the hulk into a grand, front line vessel. She is armed to the teeth with a vast array of weapons systems, composed of ten CP-12d Inerta Cannon, five k-12b Kinetic Discord Cannon, eight short range Pl-787 Phoenix repeaters, eight SPK Mk-2 Spacial Continuum Disruptor beamers, and a stunning six Xc-89a Contusion Anti-Ship Missile launchers, which have proven to, when used in unison with broadside tactics, be able to take out sections protected by aegis shields. In conjunction with sweeps provided by long range escorts, a force led by this ship is one to be feared.

::Ch-21a Hera Class::
-The Hera's hull was constructed from the remains of the alien warships, and it was quickly discovered that the design was lacking greatly in defense. To compensate, it was outfitted with four of the newest model Aegis Deflectors, which proved to remedy the situation greatly. With FireStar's discovery of the Nomad Weapon Systems, the NTR fleet, with the Hera, quickly became a force to be reckoned with. It's main armament consists of a pair of FireStar St-15 Gravatonic Fission Cannons, which when used properly, will shred most ships in a single salvo. Axolotl repeater cannons along the hull also provide close rank kill capabilities.

::Ch-25b Erebus Class::
-The Erebus class heavy cruiser lacks any sort of shielding, but compensates with heavy armor and a truly massive amount of armament. One of the earlier NTR ship models, the Erebus class is outfitted with a stunning array of six Xd-m-7 Dark Matter Cannons, along with a pair of rapid fire, long range CP-12d Inerta Cannons. Projectile defense is provided by three particle cannons along the central reactor shaft.

::CX-52a Tethys Class::
-The Tethys class light attack cruiser is the newest ship to enter service with the NTR military. Faster than most ships of it's size, this ship was designed from the ground up to function in pairs. One ship draws fire while the other proceeds to commence flanking maneuvers. Long range Xc-89a Contusion Missiles provide excellent fire support, while the bow bristles with four Pl-787 Phoenix gatling cannons to rip apart enemy ships at close range. However, the wing pods, which hold the missile magazines, have proven to be vulnerable targets.....

::FireStar-XD Mk-2 Destroyer::
-The premier ship sold by FireStar Shipworks, the XD-Mk2 is based on a modified, armored civilian hull. Outfitted with a reverse engineered Nomad neutron cannon, a squadron of these small ships can wreak hell upon enemy lines. The cannon bolt has been seen ghosting through multiple ships, vaporizing organic particles and melting through heavy armor. However, the advanced weapons can cause problems, and because of their value, the ship is usually armed with a self destruct sequence, insuring that no crewmen escape and reveal their secrets...

-The Apollo type flanker fighter entered service decades past, yet remains a premier front line assault fighter. Sporting a powerful beam weapon that can vaporise both enemy fighters and devastate capital ships, it remains remarkably nimble. Yet this comes as it's only defense, for with a hull armor rating of only 20, when it is locked in the crosshairs, the pilot had better eject, or be blown out of the sky. The following photo demonstrates it's small size, as it escorts an Erebus Class heavy cruiser on it's mission.

::Gadfly Mk-8::
-A cheap, reliable fighter frame that has been in NTR service for over one hundred years, the Gadfly fighter craft still remains the primary driving force behind the NTR's success. Little expense goes into the creation of these ships, weather it's outdated weapons, the lack of a jump drive, the lack of life support, it is not known, yet it still remains as popular as ever. Feature films such as "Resonate Implosion" and "Aces of Stars" promote this ship beyond what it is capable of, yet it's male centered appeal is unmistakable. The newest craft is armed with a high velocity repeater cannon, which fires bursts of three rounds. The engine system is created around an old ion drive frame, coupled with a primitive vectored thrust system, which, while outdated, allows for superior maneuverability.

::Ryu Class Bombardment Cruiser::
-This medium cruiser is a staple of the Nomad fleet. Helmsmen prefer to have this ship hang behind more nimble escorts while it fires it's Quantum Implosion Cannons from a safe distance. This powerful nomad designed weapon can obliterate ships in a single round, and it was once observed, that when several alien armored cruisers staged a raid on one, it's implosion cannons were even powerful enough to disintegrate their aegis deflectors. However, despite it's advantages on the battlefield, the ship possesses a critical design flaw, as the elongated sections near the core house the cannon's magazines, which, when detonated, will destroy the entire ship in a single, massive explosion.

-The Cloud Swallow class has been a staple ship of the nomad for nearly ten generations. Evolving from a civilian transport, the basic hull has been retained while it has been upgraded with the latest in Nomad Clan armament. A single anti-ship missile launcher, coupled with fast firing plasma cannons provided both long and short range coverage, while it's speed ensures that it can keep up with the bulk of the civilian contingent. It has little armor, but with the Holy Nomad Clan's nhilistic religious practices, this construes as a noble endeavour, as the nomad are known to send massive squads of smaller ships to pave the way for their larger vessels...

Put the fleets together in the post, and when you finish a fleet put the entire fleet into a single file for easy downloading. I really like the look of these ships and the Kamaitachi ships as well. Good luck with your fleets.

I like the Erebus and its poiny edges. The other ships look pretty good as well. The fleet design seems to favor edgy, intimidating ships. Hope to see more work like this in the future.

Yeah, kinda "meh". I'm re-fitting the older version, the upgraded one was fried along with the rest of my newer ships. However, two of my Holy Nomad Clan ships are up. I must say, that I find the effects of a high damage rating pulsar ball rather pleasing, and it eats through the alien dreadnought's aegis deflector protected sections like a kindergarten class set loose in a candy shop :D

I really like the general designs like the firestar, you do alot for not using tons of sections!

In truth, I simply suck at building larger ships. All attempts so far have resulted in epic fail. The FireStar designs are actually quite dated. The picture of the Gaia shows the original models, which in turn are re-constructed Sb2 ships that I and my siblings made when we first downloaded the game.

Hmm, the Apollo class "micro-fighter" is now up for download. Probably one of my smallest fighters, second only to the Gadfly, which will be up later. A swarm of these can be a real menace, as their beamers are rather heavily upgraded, but even to a stock ship, a single one is little more than cannon fodder.

my god that's tiny! You could spawn like a hundred of those things and not lag the game! would look wicked too swarming a capital ship!

You seriously think the size of the ship matters? The number of ship sections is what causes lag, not the size. I dare you to spawn 50 of them as enemies and 50 as allies and see what happens. And then I'll laugh at you when you get RSI afterward.

Heh, here's thirty on thirty, minor background terrain, weapons are one hit kill. Notice that the best frame rate I obtained was four. Of course, I have an old crappy PC, so others may get a better number...

If people actually wanted speedy battles, they'd make ships with 6 sections at most, even for battleships (using HP instead of adding sections to make them tougher), and never use more than 1 of any specific weapon per side instead of weapon banks (using burst instead).
