Which means it's about as useful in judging your accuracy as a swift kick in the balls. I mean, I WILL google-image to try and find a reference pic, but I'd rather not. 'Cuz I'm lazy. And it's not in the judge's job description.
I've been looking around for screenshots and the like of a top down aspect, all of them are either from the side or the back. Would the youtube video of that mission help at all? :?

Master Chief's Entry to the Original Ships Category:
UFS All Under Heaven

Image

Download a simulated profile of the UFS All Under Heaven.

A legendary starship of the United Fleets of Earth, the All Under Heaven used to be the flagship of the UF. She has taken part in over 100 engagements (most with United Rebel Front rogue starships) and was an integral part of the Insurrectionist War effort, reclaiming nearly 40 colonies where Rebel forces had taken over. Her weapon systems (though lacking the more modern developments of ablative armour, sectional shielding and point defence) are still powerful enough to destroy most third-generation UF starships, making her unequivocally deserving of her rank within the Fleets. Being a flagship, it served the Home Fleet well, especially during the Rebel raid on Reach which cost the Republic nearly 100 starships, where she single-handedly took on the Rebel Command Battlecruiser Invisible Palm in an engagement which caused her to suffer near-critical damage, with both her bow and left wing completely sheared off.

After being repaired, she continued to take part in patrols mostly around the Trinity worlds of Earth, Reach and New Terra, helping to stave off repeated Rebel task forces daring and brave enough to engage the Home Fleet. Ever since the Katuri intrusion occurred at Abundance, the UFS All Under Heaven has again been called to the front lines, in the hope that her massive firepower and ability to intimidate could assist the war effort, regardless of her second-generation status. She proved her mettle during the Battle of New Constantinople, where she assisted the 5th Fleet in decimating the entire 7th Armada of the Katuri Imperial Navy, in an engagement which lasted nearly 5 hours; and in the Battle of Myriadem, where an apparently lopsided arrangement of 20 stray Katuri starships (which had miscalculated their Slipspace jumps) dropped into realspace in orbit over the world, and were decimated in 10 minutes flat.

Her name itself comes from the Ancient Chinese belief that the entire of China was indeed "All Under Heaven", due to the huge size of their imperial empire. Now, the starship which has dutifully served the UF for over 100 years has proven herself worthy of the same title which was bestowed on Ancient China by her people, truly epitomizing the name through the powerful weapon arrays laid on her hull, which have laid waste to "All Under Heaven (which isn't Terran in nature)", as commonly joked by Fleets Personnel.

Below is a simulation of the All Under Heaven engaging herself:

Image

As seen above, both starships are firing their first salvos at each other, with the Artisan Directed Energy Weapons (hyper-yield) and the Tenacity Plasma Turrets (rapid-firing) clearly visible. The large amounts of Bee and Wasp drones being launched reveals, upon inference, the presence of huge launch bays on the All Under Heaven herself.

The aftermath of the simulation:

Image

One of the starships has been destroyed, while the other has been left in a condition just slightly better that of the actual starship herself after the famous engagement with the Invisible Palm. Though the actual starship had been repaired after that attack, if you were to inspect her hull closely from the outside using an Extra-Vehicular Pack now, you can see remaining sear marks from the heat created after Rebel mass driver, kinetic missile and shrapnel gun attacks (which are not automatically repaired by nano-repair-bots normally utilised by the UF to patch up damaged starships), which Fleet Command strangely refused to paint over or cover up with another layer of titanium armour, stating that "these marks and scars of battle bring greater testimony to her enduring legacy".

Disclaimer:
No actual starships were used in the simulation above.

They say that, if the we would finally understand the universe, it would collapse on itself and instantly be replaced by something more complex and hard to understand.

This proves that that ain't gonna happen very soon.

my entry for the fleets

http://www.wyrdysm.com/battleshipsforev ... nfleet.rar

*begin transmission*

Twenty years ago we encountered a race of of unknown aliens near the planet Ix. The ships we saw were nothing like we have seen before, with the largest ship beeing hundreds of not thousands of times larger then our hestia's. The ships had large glowing crystals called Yra crystals. Their one capital ship has enough firepower to completely irradicate our entire fleet. The aliens only response to our precense was a short message only saying:

We are seeking.

Because of the lack of further information the race has been called the Ixians or seekers. Though it remains unknown what the seek and why, still the race did not appears to be hostile

This new picture has been taken recently near the world of cadara , it is a rare sighting of the Ixians, containing pictures of several small ships not seen before. This time the Ixians demanded our immediate witdrawal. It appears they have found something.........th...........or..........
*the rest of the message is cut of*

In absolute silence they sat in the cirkle, all awaiting what was found. Hoping they have found it.
that they can change fate.
and give their brothers a fighting chance.
All deep blue eyes of the counsil looked upon the black box containing the item so many had died for, in the past and future. And they knew that this was only the beginning. They will take it to the forge world of Antioch and with the fire of the vulcano's and the titanium of the mountains, they will forge their final ship. Their final hope

The Akkadu

The Akkadu (singular: Akkadum) are an alien race that did not originate in the Milky Way Galaxy. As such, they represent the second extragalactic lifeform known to humanity (after the Nanz). The means through which the Akkadu were able to successfully warp on a galactic scale are currently unknown, but it shows that the Akkadu are an extremely technologically advanced species. Their presence was detected by AFS (Alliance of Free Stars) cartographer scouts during an inspection of the fringes of known space. So far, only the AFS has made contact with the Akkadu. The first reports sent from the Alliance to the other four sovereign states seemed to indicate that the Akkadu were attempting to avoid human contact. As time passed, an Akkadu scout group was found inside Cygnian Warlord territory and promptly destroyed by the warlords. This event seems to have provoked the Akkadu to attack human colonies, and now the two species are at war with each other.

The Akkadu currently have a force the equivalent of several fleets in the Milky Way galaxy, but the possibility of more aliens jumping in is a constant worry. Unlike the Nanz which attacked with huge numbers of inferior ships (with a few powerful dreadnaughts), the Akkadu warships have excellent firepower and shields. Their weapons have high accuracy meaning that they can shred individual sections of armour very quickly, and heavy deflector shielding prevents human forces from doing the same. The Akkadu ships' main weakness is a relative lack of weapons to protect their flanks and a notably low amount of point defenses. The Akkadum Mothership, designated Tiamat, is extremely dangerous and can probably hold its own against an entire battlegroup.

The Akkadu point of view

What the humans did not know was the reason for the Akkadu incursion into their space. The Akkadu Empire once extended throughout the Andromeda Galaxy just as humans colonized much of the Milky Way. However, the Akkadu's main energy source, a network of gravity siphons situated on the event horizons of black holes, could not supply enough power to sustain the Akkadu Empire's rapid expansion. As energy to power their ships and infrastructure became scarce, revolts broke out preventing further expansion. The Akkadu leaders decided that more black holes would have to be found and their scientists suggested that the Milky Way Galaxy was a good candidate to start searching for black holes, due to the similarity of the Milky Way to their own galaxy. An expeditionary force consisting of one mothership and a fleet of escorts was warped into the Milky Way, the largest task force that the Akkadu had ever successfully warped on a galactic scale.

The expeditionary force found itself on one of the outer arms of this unexplored galaxy. However, it turned out to be already inhabited. Because their numbers were few compared to the forces of the human inhabitants the Akkadu decided to avoid any possible conflict by staying away from any human colonies. Later, the Akkadu leaders soon detected a massive black hole signature in the centre of the Milky Way, and ordered the expeditionary force to investigate. The scouts were detected and never came back. So the inhabitants were dangerous after all. After some stations were warped in to be able to maintain the expeditionary for an indefinite period and to create new ships, the Akkadu began their attack on the humans. If the Akkadu won, the black hole in the centre of the Milky Way could provide enough power to sustain their civilization for a very long time, perhaps indefinitely. For the Akkadu, it was a gamble worth taking.

I'm pretty much clueless about what makes a good ship by the standards of regulars on the forum, but I've been seeing some great designs around. In fact they were so good that I was inspired to join in. Here's my effort. In for the Original Ship entry.

The Incursus is produced by a secretive race that developed inside a dense nebular. For most of their early existence they were unaware of the greater universe, but all that changed when a alien warship crashed into their home planet. The initial damage was colossal and casualties high as radioactive waste from the ships reactor contaminated an entire continent, but the event united the young race. Salvaging what technology they could from the wreck they took to space, and a century later left their home nebula well armed and equipped to face a potentially hostile universe.

As heavy main ship of the line, the Incursus is both well armoured and armed. The forward beam cannon array uses high powered energy fields to focus the charge, a side effect of which deflects incoming projectiles and energy beams. The drive system uses a quantum gravometric system, the distortions of which again deflect attacks, though in this case the effect works both ways, preventing any weaponry from firing out through it.

The wing sections can fold inwards, overlaying the engine section to lay against the central command section. This is a necessity since the builders lacked the technology to produce conventional hyperspace drives, relying instead on a system of jump gates and hugely inefficient artificial wormholes for long distance travel.

Note: the smaller missile launchers launch ECM missiles at twice the rate of the larger missile launchers. ECM missiles have very little damage potential, but are able to confuse and distract enemy point defences to allow the high yield projectiles to break through.

The Incursus' broadside - the deadly light show.

Thanks for putting on this competition - I think I've learned a lot just from having a go at designing a more complex ship than I am used to.

EDITS: Small mirroring errors fixed, outlining added to core sections, combat pic removed cos it really wasn't necessary lol

Long ago when humans first developed space travel, people started to question if they space travel is worth it. A collaboration of people known only as the Ignians belived that space travel was the key to victory. They took off on a newly built spacecraft and were never seen again. After years they finally were heard from in the form of a warning, that if anyone tried to stop their conquest space, they would suffer the consequences.
