I'm really looking for a way that doesn't require to much spending.

Got a new CD drive.

Computer won't pick it up and now the DVD drive has stopped working as well.

When I open 'my computer' the CD and DVD icons are missing.

Help!! :cry:

I had that exact same problem before.

Bought new CD and DVD drives.

It's in the machine, it just won't work. And now it's stopped the DVD drive from working.

I'm not sure but I think the autoplay on your xp has malfunctioned/glitched.
I've had this happen before...

But Just to be sure, when you insert a disk into your drive, autoplay doesn't start up? or are you just getting nothing at all. (like no cd/dvd drive in my computer or it appears empty.)

Anyway to fix it? I've got 3 pc games on my christmas and I wan't to be able to play them.

Your problem might be a physical one. Something is probably wrong with the connecting heads, maybe a bit of dust that got lodged in it, blocking the connection. Try disconnecting the drive and cleaning the connecting pin heads and sockets with some WD40, then see what happens.

just troubleshoot.if that aint work w8 about 5 min with the disc inserted.sometimes my pc does that.
