G.D.F. Fleet -Terran Division-

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

I like your station but maybe attach the vulcan platforms to the main base, then have floating pods with point defense on them, with a point defense as a driver so they can intercept enemy fire? That would look awesome plus it would clear up the point beam spam. Maybe hide your weapons a bit better?

Ya unless hes using more than the name and GDF navy is part of eve, hes not doing anything wrong.

The shape of your defense station reminds me of the Solomon, but that radar dish thingy is ugly.

What in hell? Floating disks? I know that I consider them bad taste, and I think they are generally frowned upon on these forums. Please attach them to something or get rid of them.

Also, I almost missed the satellite dish in the middle. Change that to white so we can see it.

Alright, I understand the radar color. But whats the matter with the disks? Smaller defense satellites rotating around a larger one as a means of protection.

They would be bad however if it was a moving ship, but its a stationary station.

They either need some sort of engine to explain their rotation or they should be physically attached to the station. Things need some sort of force acting upon them to make them move (à la Newton's First) and I seriously doubt that that station has enough gravity to allow for orbiting objects. Even EriErin's fin fannels were explainable by the ship-like appearance. And, seriously, how much protection are those four little midget disks going to be able to offer that station? I'd feel much safer behind a Peitho Deflector formation. (Then again, wouldn't we all?)

In short, there are better ways to implement station defense. I'd rather you use one of them instead of this half-assed "floating disks" idea you're using.

(Sorry about the micro-flame. I've been having a bad day.)

(Meh, everyone has ups and downs)

Alright then, it would be simple enough to put the orbs on their own rotation axis's, and add some thrusters for believability. But on the disks are invisible guns and Point Defense Lasers

Pre-dictable. (You cheater.) That explains why you were trying to avoid deleting them as if your life depended on it. (More like the lives of the station crew.) I at least hope you weren't noobish enough to mod or spam the weapons too. *glares meaningfully at DAikum*

VNila have you ever bothered to build a ship with defense satellites? The stigma you refer to was from the older versions of shipmaker. Now you attach them to a driver and they work really well for blocking shots, either with the point defense mounted on them, or with their own hulls as a last resort. Think Seaquest!

Although I don't think the guns should be invisible. I've made them as simple as a circle with a gun mounted on it(fraxy sections work well) and another smaller circle covering all but the barrels of the gun. Also made mini mechs which rotate their arms to fire at the incoming bullets, or even block shots with aegised fists, while rotating to advantageous positions around a ship. Its really not hard to do well, but don't knock it till you've done it right.

I liked the star shape...

All I did was increse the range on the MG's I put on the sat's. The PD Lasers however are vanilla. And who ever said they were manned ;)

Way better then first one.
But commenting on the fact that this is possible: if the station used some sort of gravity device(possible in BSF) it should be possible, you could even make the ball seperate ships and drag them around manually. But why would you if you could simulate this effect with simple triggers/driver/ rotation.

Your floating disks are kind of...uneven, and the shield is waaayyy too big.

That said, the station itself is rather fragile.

I think the uneven positioning of the discs is intentional, it can be said that the discs are autonomous and are equipped with Inertia-less engines, ala the Alioru(Spelling) Skiffs in Star Control II.

inertialess engines... what a laughable idea.
