Comptuer lock up

Post by Sid »

Hey guys,

Just got back in to BSF... and am running into a rather annoying problem. When I'm in ship builder, the program likes to randomly lock up on me (I'd say after about 5 - 10 minutes), and forces me to hardboot my PC. Any suggestions?

My rig:

HP BLACKBIRD 002 LC

- Intel® Core2™ Extreme Quad-Core 3.2GHz QX9770 performance enhanced
- 8GB 1600 MHz CORSAIR PC-12800 DDR3 SDRAM (4x2GB)
- CPU Liquid cooling
- EVGA nForce™ 790i Ultra
- Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX-280, with 1GB of GDDR3 SDRAM (AC)
- Creative Audio Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional
- RAID (1) Data Reliability - 2 x 160GB 10000 rpm SATA
- 1.1KW Power Supply
- RAID (1) Data Reliability – 2 x 300GB 10,000 rpm SATA
- Super multi-drive, slim slots with Lightscribe (DVD+/-R/RW+/-DL)
- Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Ultimate (64 Bit)

Thanks for your time,
Sid

Same question as BoVinE, and shouldn't this be in troubleshooting?

It's not sure whether this is entirely game related, so I'll just leave it here. But do remember to post any future bugs in the troubleshooting thread.

Holy Jebus. I've always wanted a blackbird.
As for game issues, try a reinstall?
If not, go play Crysis. (sits in discontentment with his own rig)

Crysis Sucks. It's just a playable tech demo with a paper-thin plot. It sucks so much that I haven't played it beyond the second level... to tellya the truth, I'd rather play BSF or Dwarf Fortress... :/

I'll just assume you completely missed my little joke/dismissal that I made to let you know that something tells me it's not hardware related.

First off, I suggest saving money by getting not-quite-100%-top-of-the-line computers. You'll probably save half the cash and get maybe 10-20% less performance.
Second off, try a fresh install of BSF.
