My first serious attempt at a bigger ship.

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

My first serious attempt at a bigger ship.

Yeah. I know that I like fighters, but I thought it was time that I tried my hands at something bigger. Its not original, but I think its decent for a first try!

Comments and Criticism on the shape, please. (Being the moron I am, I forgot to save.)

Okay I'm sorry, but this ship is not very big, you also need to add variety to your pieces and custom color it. And make the ship outline a little less blockie. But for a first try it is... "okay".

So, is it a GOOD thing that I forgot to save, or what? Yeah.

Its true that the ship isn't very big, and it is quite blocky, but I just wanted to see what you people are willing to stand in terms of eye damage while I learn this. :D

You said "bigger ship" and got me all excited, and here I am with something destroyer-sized. :(
Anyways, those 26s are obnoxiously square, and the front needs something. Try adding some parts on the sides of the 26s, or replace them with smaller sections. Maybe round out the front or add something interesting.

The only thing i can say is good on this ship is the parenting. other than that I don't think this ship is a good ship to post.

I think it's decent as a practice ship, but there's a lot of work to be done there. Still, good work on a first try.

The parenting abosolutely SUCKS! no fewer than SIX places across the hull are badly parented. Take your own advice from your sig and

Umm... no. The parenting is fine. The shape is what needs work.
And I believe his sig is referring to parenting that is completely broken, not just a bit off.

Tell me that isnt totally screwed parenting. Skull, look at big ships in the forums, look at their coulors and parenting. Write down what you notice then scrap this ship and start again.

Ok, I'll tell you. That isn't totally screwed parenting. Consider the location of the actual parts relative to what they are parented to. In each case, the 2 parts are touching, which is the idea of parenting.

I kind of see what he is getting at, if he destroys the 26's then whatever is connecting inwards of it will be destroyed.

Ohh, I see, you were getting at a different point than I thought you were.
As for that, all that does to affect the ship is give it weak points. Good placement of point defense and careful maneuvering so as not to expose the sides will make this an interesting ship to fight with, and will certainly justify some more powerful weapons. :D
