Turret/Weapon Request/Contribution Thread

I was thinking it'd be more of a Really Big Gun for use in fixed positions or in the new turrets.
As for the sections, well, section importing will be coming soon.

I did it for the lulz. Animation may come later or tomorrow, no idea really.
Might design that too as a warmup.Arcalane wrote:I need to post up some images and info for the laser targeter too.
As I said over in the Dev Log;
Is innocent looking, no? Just wait for it to light up your ship. When you see one of these on the end of a red beam;
You'll know you're about to get hit by an enemy attack!
This humble little device;Another weapon project that's on the drawing board is a special new weapon. It is, in fact, the most harmless weapon ever. How? Well, it does a grand total of 0 damage per frame.
"But that's madness!" I hear you cry. Not so. This is not your average weapon. In fact, it could hardly be called a weapon. The most damage it can do is to burn your retinas if you stare at the source. What is it, then?
That's simple. It's a humble targeting laser. Designed to work as an innocuous 'driver' gun for the turret system, this targeting laser emits a thin red beam that highlights a target, potentially warning of impending doom. The best part? It generates absolutely no noise. Now you'll never have to put up with those headache-inducing noises generated by other beam turrets being made into jury-rigged laser-pointers!
An early concept included an uninterceptable invisible bullet which made a 'target locked' fauxplosion upon impact. Personally, I prefer the idea of a targeting laser, as it has many, many uses, especially if it can act as the designator for weapon banks.

Ive extracted all weapon and bullet sprites for you guys to have a starting point with custom sprite import for those.
http://filesmelt.com/Filehosting2/downl ... bulets.rar
Weapons are easy, but the exact bullet sprite functionality youll have to figure out.

There's still a few off-black dots on these - not exactly visible to the naked eye, but off-black enough to not be treated as transparent. If anyone wants to clean them up, be my guest. I can't be arsed to do any more than I already have;
Making a mono-ized version in the process would be nice too.

Here's a little random piece of work. I was toying around with the notion of a rapid fire railgun type weapon...
I messed up something with the GIF
::Update::
Particle Scavenger Cannon, WIP. An animation test for a future project, a weapon similar in appearance to a gosling...
Random doodad/projectile...

Say, has anyone tried designing more alien-ish weapons? Been thinking of one myself, but I'm not sure if it's possible since it involves hit detection being turned on and off for the projectile depending on the frame of the animation.
Sorta sad watching the Aliens on the loading screen since they're outclassed by both the normal ships and the pirates.
