Edit the strings. By that I mean set the bullet speed to a value you can remember (eg. 123), press 'R', press 'E' but before you press okay, edit the string so that the bullet speed value is whatever number you want it to be. That way you can have values you shouldn't be able to have (eg. negative damage which heals).
Just don't set the value too high, or you'll risk having the projectile skip right through enemy ships without doing damage.Bad Boy wrote:Edit the strings. Edit the weapon....Well you can start by clicking on the weapon and pressing the edit button in the top left corner of the screen by where you select sections. This gives you a variety of options, which many easily findable threads explain what to do with.XEALMOX wrote:stupid question butt how can i edit a weapons effect

The speed example, which is totally possible, is used to modify stats not normally visible. The arc on a point defense weapon for example. This can be done by pressing R while selecting the weapon, finding the pertinent number, and changing it to whatever you want. There are also threads explaining the order and default value of these numbers since most are displayed as -1 which means default.
Once you've changed the numbers, make sure the modified text is copied, then press E while selecting the weapon and paste it... That should be it I think, at least the rest is easy to find.

Without combining several modded weapons, which might do something interesting, the closest would be pulsars. Only because you can make them extinguish at any distance you want. They wouldnt pull back into the weapon or even look right though, so I see why you would wanna use the railgun. You would have to direct fire the weapon but I can't see anything that would make it look right either... I have an idea, I will experiment on.
