Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Ok, in the Fanship category, I enter this battlestar. It is not Galactica, strictly speaking, but one of the four battlestars Commander Cain built on the planet Poseidon, as detailed in Richard Hatches book, BSG:WARHAWK. As such it is slightly customized, but only in the sense that Cain would have made improvements in designing new ships, as well as relying upon limited materials. As in the series, it has two nukes, two mega lasers of undefined description, many ship to ship lasers, and of course flak cannons. It also has fighters, though this part is not accurate since it should launch 75 fighters, but its relatively balanced.
Here is my design:

Here is one interpretation of a original battlestar, credit to Randy Asplund for the art:

In the original ship design category, I enter the Argonaut. Originally a explorer class mothership, it was redesigned into a hardy warship after encountering the vile and hostile mammal races inhabiting the galaxy. The colony pod and the nacelles were removed as it was determined it would not need to move beyond the home sector in order to defend. I got some fishheads for your ass!

I tried to read all the rules and do everything right but I'm sorry if something isnt right. Unfortunately I'm leaving town tomorrow so I won't be able to fix anything by the deadline. Both these ships were posted on the forum but only within the last few weeks with no redesign since then, and I just don't have time to design new ones before I leave. Good luck everyone!

Original Ship:
Soma.

DATA FILE: CRELD
AUTHORIZED ACCESS ONLY

//:READOUT://

Soma, Class 2 Deep Space Flagship

The Soma Class 2 Deep Space Flagship can be found at the heart of every modern Creld task force. Its weapons can decimate anything from the most heavily-armored of opponents to faster craft, and the mere appearance of its distinctive shape on the battlefield is enough to send weaker-willed enemies into headlong flight.

The Soma was first unveiled only recently before the Creld made contact with the Mesris. The first action that the class was involved in was a minor skirmish against pirates, where the ship emerged from unscathed from the wreckage of the pirate craft. The Soma is being rapidly incorporated into the Creld fleet, serving as a flagship for armadas of Class 3 ships and occasionally providing support for a Class 1 mission. There are relatively few of these ships currently in operation, but the planned production has skyrocketed due to the reemergence of the Creld’s old enemies, the Mesris. Expect to see a lot more of these versatile flagships in the near future.

The enemies of the Creld are fast learning that the appearance of this monitor heralds doom for all who oppose them.

I'd like to submit my Armageddon's Scribe if that's okay. I know it was posted on this forum already, but part of the reason I made it is to submit it to the beauty pageant, so I hope it's alright. Anyway, here's a pic of it next to a Hestia (for more pics look here).

Also, here's the .sb3 and the .shp for the Armageddon's Scribe.

EDIT: Since the deadline is drawing near, and I don't want to lose points for not having a backstory, here goes nothing (yay for shitty five minute story line!):

Created billions of years ago by the remnants of now long dead race of highly advanced, highly spiteful, aliens, whose belief was that if their species should die, so should all others, Armageddon's Scribe, along with it's sister ship, The Bringer of The Armageddon was designed to inflict misery and suffering upon any and every living creature it encountered (neither of them have crew, and are operated entirely by a bank of supercomputers). Fortunately for every living species, The Bringer of The Armageddon malfunctioned and attempted to destroy its sister ship. Armageddon's Scribe was able to destroy it, but suffered extremely heavy damage. It took millions of years for it to repair itself, but now it has and it's back... With A Vengeance!

The picture has to be IN your post, Bad Boy. Also, yes, it's okay. As I said, it is allowed to post ships that you've already put on the forum.

I humbly enter the Arkbird from Ace Combat 5. The Arkbird is a suborbital spacecraft that was modified to fire a Space-To-Surface laser. It was later modified into a flying fortress.

Urk... okay, guys, less than a week left to finish submissions. I'm going to answer some questions and call people out on some important matters.

Any submission of two ships or more counts as a fleet, but you don't need to worry about it, since you're banned from all future Beauty Pageants. I don't think I need to tell you why.

Shenaldrac:
That is not a valid entry. Look at the other fleet entries. You need a picture (or more), a download link CONTAINING AN .ENC FILE, etc, in your submission post.

condorc3:
Your ship does not load in game. Fix this and resubmit it, or you will be disqualified.

DeathsHand:
Fleets require an .enc file. Please update your download to include one, or you will be disqualified. Read the rules next time, please.

Based on the errors that it gives me, when I try to load the ship, I suspect it's due to using pure black sections, which causes the ship to crash the game. Make them almost pure black instead.

Really though, next time at least test the ship out in game to make sure it works before submitting it.

I figured I wouldn't be able to judge.
But unable to at the least enter a ship is kind of harsh. :P You leave me in a predicament now...

You dropped out with no warning in the previous competition and caused the entire judging process to be delayed. Siber, Aralonia and Talhydras - who are judges in the current BP - all submitted ships in the competition. Ships you decided that you didn't want to judge, several weeks into the judging process. Why, exactly, should they put any effort into judging a submission from you?

My apologies. If I did the encounter file right (I suck at even attempting to use it) it should be fixed now.

It's more of a "you forfeited any right to enter into this Competition when you signed up for a responsibility such as judging and then dropped out when everyone else was waiting for the results" sort of thing. There's also the fact that I'm a vindictive son of a bitch, yes.

Thanks, DeathsHand. That's appreciated. For the judges, needing to go through and load up every ship in every fleet (which can be quite large, sometimes), is quite tedious.
