Or a seismic weapon. Ya know, what Jango Fett uses in Ep II.

To heck with sonic weapons, imma turn it into a graviton wave disperser. -_-
A seismic weapon would be pretty much useless without any asteroids to use on. To tell the truth, Wyrmtech Industries's gravity weapons have a secondary seismic effect if used to attack ground due to the disrupted gravity.

...The shockwave would also cut any nearby larger ship in half, ya know...

Shockwave consisting of what, exactly?ArcaneDude wrote:...The shockwave would also cut any nearby larger ship in half, ya know...
Seismic weapons do not work in space, because seismic activity requires mechanical elastic waves, just the same as sound.
Star Wars is not a reliable source for scientific information.

So what? The railgun for example, its suposed to throw liquid. Yep, railgun/liquid... And the lasers, they are invisible in space. and the sound...
Let the guy have his sonic weapons!!!

Neither is Star Trek, yet you seem to think so.Daxx wrote:

It's a water jet cutter on crack. Yes, the name doesn't really fit, but at least it's feasible._Ti__ wrote:So what? The railgun for example, its suposed to throw liquid. Yep, railgun/liquid...
Take in mind what we see is supposedly only a representation on a kind of battle map. Sensors could be detecting and displaying the various emissions and beams and what have you of the weapons, and the whole suite could be playing back audio as feedback, which can be very important in a combat situation._Ti__ wrote:And the lasers, they are invisible in space. and the sound...

Reading comprehension fail, or possibly a horrific straw man; I can't tell which. I'm not sure exactly how poorly quoting from Stardestroyer.net reflects upon you, but that's a discussion for another time.ArcaneDude wrote:Neither is Star Trek, yet you seem to think so.Daxx wrote:Shockwave consisting of what, exactly?ArcaneDude wrote:...The shockwave would also cut any nearby larger ship in half, ya know...

Star Trek isn't a reliable source either, but you can take certain things as canonically fact without needing to question them, because of a little thing called suspension of disbelief. When you're noting (and that is the important part) that something is true in-universe you can move on.Daxx wrote:Depending on what canon source you're using, you could have it be a Star Trek-style subspace/gravometric pulse
Perhaps it was a lack of clarity on your part, but you completely failed to mention that you weren't looking for physical accuracy, rather just going ITCOULDBESEISMICWEAPONHURRR.
[/post]
Well, subspace pulses work in Star Trek, despite being retarded science, seismic weapons work in Star Wars, despite being retarded science, and, as I pointed out earlier, plasma charges work in Battleships Forever, despite being retarded science. Anybody got a problem here?

Tell you what, Arcanedude: next time, make what you meant more obvious. Then I'll read what you mean rather than what you write.

If it's not entirely clear what I mean, then I am seriously questioning your perceptive abilities. But since you asked so nicely, I'll explain.
You say that the sience used in SW is retarted, yet ST is so full of technobabble (and that I say as an actual fan of the show), and you still seemed to see it as a useful source before. Since you have admitted it is not by now, the argument is a bit obsolete.
Besides, you ask "shockwave consisting of what". Well, whatever it is that the shockwave consists of that we see in EP II, which cut through a portion of an asteroid field. There was no reason to assume that it can't cut through starships, as well.
Most of my further arguments are explained in your second to last post already, namely these;
-It can be true in-universe
-Who sais I was actually relying upon science? It's called science FICTION for a reason, ya know.
My point about the image macro remains.
And I'm not going for ITCOULDBESEISMICWEAPONHURR either, I'm simply pulling the analogy with the seismic charge we saw in SW.
Clear enough?

I only quoted from that site because if I did, I wouldn't have to make a long post like this one. I could have done it from wikipedia as well, but this page was the top one in the window. That said, attacking me with personal insults wasn't exactly the best move either. This is a discussion, not a meeting of the Flemish parlement.Daxx wrote:I'm not sure exactly how poorly quoting from Stardestroyer.net reflects upon you
