The Ships of Seraphim Industries - Last Updated 12/23/07

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Ah Demeters are too weak anyways...

But I've got a nice backstory going for Seraphim Industries...

Seraphim Industries has always been an innovator in both air and sea technology back on Old Earth, millennia ago... It was no suprise, when the Jump Drive was invented and Space Travel became viable, that Seraphim quickly took the lead, designing newer and better ways to traverse the great vastness of space.

In it's entirety Seraphim Industries has been solely owned by the Seraphim family. Generation after generation
[don't ask how they didn't have any daugthers] of Seraphims led the way in space technology. The most recent generations had produced grand, yet utilitarian ships such as the Trance Gemini, The Progeny series, and the Kratos. This close family ownership came from the fact that, throughout Seraphim history, only one child would be produced; and he would take over the company when the father had decided to pass it on. [once again, don't ask how they didn't have any daugthers] Of course, many other people, wanting the prosperity of Seraphim Industries, had attempted to acquire the company, both legally and violently. The company held still, though. However, this stability was to change...

It's supposed to be a massive carrier ship! If anything, it needs more Demeters!

I must be the only guy that thinks Demeters are strong... They're especially useful for pinpoint strikes.

A pair of demeter Drones can make a fight against alien dreadnought FAR easier, because the drones can fly over and around the dreadnought and pick away at the Aegis.

They're also a pain in the ass for PD to deal with, outside Gravbeams, Impeders, and Point Beams.

I have to back this up. Alone or in pairs, Demeters are little more than a PD distraction. How about 10-20 demeter pods (that's 50-100 demeters, or so) dropping right on top of you. No ship can weather that storm easily without deflectors.

Even with Deflectors, a large number of demeters will chew up any ship.

Also, with Demeters? They have a big tendency to mess with deflectors. The Demeters will fire willy nilly and the ships will raise deflectors on odd parts of the ship, leaving the brunt of it exposed to traditional weaponry.

They're like... gnats... or wasps.

Construction of the successor to the Progeny line, the Legacy is underway. Less than 50% of the hull has been constructed so far, but already it is looking to be a fearsome ship indeed.

Here's what the engineers have constructed so far:

Finaly, a practical use for aegis
Look Up
upon reading this:
50% of people will have scrolled up
25% will have looked at their ceiling
The last 25% can now feel smug because everyone else has taken orders from a little sig box.

The Legacy's hull is nearly complete...
Image

Need to sleep now. Will finish this tomorrow.

Update:

GOD DAMN IT TO HECK! :x

I don't know what the hell happened, but the Legacy didn't save properly, for some reason. The first picture of the Legacy that I posted is all I have left of it. I'm going to need to recreate the entire fucking front section of the ship!

After an antimatter explosive was set off aboard the still under construction Legacy-class Heavy Warship, many thought that the project would be scrapped all together. However, Seraphim Industries CEO Aradel Seraphim insisted that construction continue.

The ship was rebuilt in record time, with some slight differences to the original. Officials believe that this attack was made by the same mysterious group that launched strange but deadly torpedoes at the Deicide-class ship, the
Caliburn, resulting in the deaths of more than five-hundred people.

The investigation is ongoing...

Well, I rebuilt the damn thing as best I could. There are some relatively minor differences between this and the original, and I'm not actually sure which one I like better... eh. I added that flavour text in just for fun, 'cause I was feeling creative.

The Legacy should be completed sometime tomorrow. Or in a few hours, if I decide against sleeping...

That finally gives me an idea for a viable, playable campaign!

Long years had passed since the last great Seraphim innovation. Newer companies were taking the lead, developing ships at a rate Seraphim could've never competed with. It was time for something to happen...

That something happened...

[cinematic break, panning around, you know, that sort of stuff, to build up mystery and drama]

The newest CEO of the company, Corinithus Seraphim, was just recently passed control of the company. Yet already he had begun to fix Seraphim Industries; he optimized almost everything, and was beginning development of a ship that was very reminiscent of the Industry's old days... When materials were cheap... And the Galactic Senate had no such thing as a "starship safety caucus"...

The ship, codenamed "Ascendancy" was to be grand. Extremely large, powerful, and yet at the same time, fast, elegant, and pleasing to the eye, it took concepts from all of Seraphim Industry's old designs and concepts, merging them into one. It was the company's Saviour, it's path back to ascendancy, pun intended.

It's large graceful swept back wings, which had those feather-like protrusions like the ships of old, yet still smooth enough to bring back memories of the Progeny class... It's armament; large enough to annihilate a medium-sized planet, alone. Amazingly, it was still within bounds of the company's dwindling resources... And it was all because of a special discovery made by Corinithus himself.

This discovery? A new source of power. It was both boundless and limited at the same time, unbelievably powerful and yet gracefully elegant. Other companies envied this; yet no one could figure out how it worked. It was completely veiled under secrecy - only Corinithus and his top advisors (which were all connected to the Seraphim family closely) knew about it and how it worked.

Work progressed smoothly until finally, on 9th decamester of Old Earth's revolution around the center of the Old Milky Way galaxy, specifically in our time, around October, the finished ship was revealed. It was huge; it seemed to dwarf the factory it came out of. And at the commands was Corinithus himself. All was going well... Almost too well for a company that had, for the past 15 years, barely making money at all...

Download the Legacy.

It's finally complete, and it's a fucking MONSTER.

The Deicide is lucky to even scorch its hull.

It looks so sparsely armed at first... Then you pop it against a leviathan and you take your comments back...

I really like the floating thing at the back. I've been trying to think of a way to do that for... days... (=.= that sounds to anti-dramatic but it's true)

That and I just had another idea: Parallel campaign. Basically, it follows two stories at once... Trust me, it'll be better than a good anime (not some really long anime like Naruto. I'm talking shorter ones, the good ones that you really want to be continued, but the artist just doesn't).
