Venator's been building... something Huge! [WIP]

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Venator's been building... something Huge! [WIP]

Post by Venator »

The reason I haven't been posting lately (aside from a nightmarish volume of schoolwork) - I've been busy.

It started out as a framework;

And even in it's current state, it's surpassed my wildest expectations:

(Comparison to an Athena, HoD II, and Wellington-Class Sovereign).

Couple detail shots:

Design features for the finished version:
+ Outer hull sections (Not quite BSG style, but not as phalic).
+ Fighter launch bays with doodad light trails.
+ Viewports and other hull features.
+ Functional primary and secondary bridges (Thrusters will represent loss of control due to destroyed command sections).

The framework is a great idea, I will have to remember that one. :P

I must say it looks excellent so far, but I don't see how you'd be able to add onto it...

I see this becoming massively and hilariously phallic.

Other than that, though, it's awesome...

I see a bit of repeating on some of the screenshots, you might want to fix that. that ruins the look.(and the fact that it looks... you know)

You mean repeated use of sections? I tried to keep it minimal, but I'll be redoing the nose and the outer sections (parallel to the bridge in dark gray).

This is a (very) rough outline of what I was thinking of for the final hull shape:

So yeah, not quite so phallic .

It's alright, I know Thunder in RL - if someone's going to make the phalic comment, might as well be someone I can physically smack for it :P.

I like it as-is, good luck with your extensions on it too.

magnificent! I definitely think you should do something to the front... While a > would look bad, perhaps a < (in other words angles widening towards the front of the ship instead of streamlining back) would break up the repetition of that section while allowing it to bring more directed firepower to bear.

Who cares? This is awesome! Way to go, Venator! I like it as it is, but I'm not a big fan of this color scheme. Might wanna change it.

Whoa... I think I'd be looking forward to you finishing it more if my computer were good enough to actually use it at a decent framerate...
