Stock ship re-design tournament!
Okay folks, this is an inspiration form Lizzie's latest ship topic.
You will take a stock ship, any ship, and re-design it to your taste. You make make it EPIC HUEG, or keep it the same size. Just make sure you maintain the same themes and style of the original.
News:
[2/25/08] Competition started!
Rules:
1) You may enter one ship into each of three size catagories:
-Titan: This involves takign a tiny ship and making it massive. Your goal is to keep the styel of the original, and anyone should be able to tell which ship it is made from. The ship's core must be the original craft, including doo-dads and weapons, with the rest of the ship built off of that. There is no max on size, but ships must be at least 10x10 squares.
-Rebuild: This is about keeping the ship almost the same, but making it incredbly cool within the bounds of the general shape and style of the original. You may not build a ship more than 2.5x larger than the original, and it must directly resemble the original. Make it look like epic in a bottle.
-Upgrade: This is the strictest catagory. You may build within the bounds of the original ship, as if taking the original and giving it an upgrade. You may arm it with anything you want, and can add as many sections as you want, but the ship may not be more than 1.5x larger or be totally flung away from the original.
This is a very free-reign tournament. Feel free to be crazy and creative, but make sure you maintain the look of the first ship.
2) Your ships will be judged thusly:
1) Aethetics: Does it look good? Does it have nice form?
2) Style: Have you held to the style of the original but given it your own special flare?
3) Functionality: Does it look like a warship, have cool weapons and have weaponry that resembles the original?
All are out of 10 points, for a total of 30.
Juding:
Judges may not enter the competition, and must be able to FINISH THEIR JUDGING on time and accurately. If you can't finish, tell me quickly or you will suffer. I will be a judge.

Sure. That was original inspiration, anyway . . . so I guess it will serve as an example for others to know what the contest is trying to get at.Lizzie wrote:Can I enter my Basilisk Dreadnought from my fleet? The "Hecate Redesign".

I'm in. Do we have to sign up for specific categories?
(This sort of reminds me, why isn't the Beauty Pageant in the Tourney Forum?)

For those who want to do a "Titan" ship, this is the kind of size/scale/core design I want:
(BTW, if you post something this bad, I will come to your house and chop your head off. This was something I did really fast and without attention to detail for the most part, and din't even finish the rear wings. This is a size and core design example, not a possible entry. You had better make something better than this.)

For ideas on how to do the "Rebuild" catagory, check out Talyhadra's Ravana and other WCW remakes. They take the general shape and make it uber-cool to the max.
On the "Upgrade" catagory, Lizzie's latest ships will serve as an example for that. They look recognizably like the original, maintain the same genral proportions and look, but add detail and cooler design themes, with the layering and all.
