two identical ships fight, enemy ship always wins?
i made a ship and had it fight against itself several times (allied ship versus enemy ship) and the enemy ship wins every time. same thing happens when i try to fight against the enemy ship myself.
is this a known bug or something? i can't figure it out. the ships are identical yet the enemy one ALWAYS kicks the allied ship's ass.

Not sure...
Get better allies?
This happens to me, too.
He means allied, not player.

Says so right there.
Says so right there.
Well, I can understand player, but not ally. Bad positioning of the ally ships?

toggle AI on? they seem to shoot each other just fine as it is, i'm not sure what ai toggle you mean. i've tried both flanking and normal AI and the result is the same.
they're just sitting there, facing each other, slugging it back and forth, so i doubt position has much to do with it. they start from opposite edges of the screen.

Stop talking nonsense. Both AI are the same. If the Enemy AI seems to win more often, its because it either had an advantage in terms of ship placing, or because it opened fire first. Or hell, it could even be random chance. Because in my experience, there's a 50/50 chance either way, when two of the same ship face each other under AI control.

It's usually due to shot timing and whoever fired first. I noticed frequently in my tests of the Varga that the Enemy AI tended to come out on top because it fired first, and the Ally one always jinked a few seconds too late to dodge a rocket volley.Anna wrote:Stop talking nonsense. With player control there should be no excuse for you losing to the AI in a 1v1 unless you leave it to the computer.

The tournament battle between my Obfustication III and the Huge Armored Turd proves there is an AI difference: The Ally AI would target Demeters at Deflector modules while the Enemy AI wouldn't. (Not sure if th15 has changed that since.) Though I don't see that specific case applying to this situation, since... the Enemy AI is what's winning.Anna wrote:Stop talking nonsense. It's quite random, so I guess it all comes down to these factors...
1. Who the hell fired first
2. Who had a better starting position
3. Who had the brains to actually assign Deflectors to the correct sections
4. Who simply had more luck
5. Who wasn't affected by th15's omnipotent digital electrotelekinetic powers
