Super Companion Cube

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Super Companion Cube

Post by Stormcaller »

Here's my first idea for the Mothership tournament. It's based on my Weighted Companion Cube, but bigger, slower, and with more guns.

And point defense.
And deflectors.
And armor.

So of course, it's the Super Companion Cube. The only questionable point is the fact that the circular core has more than 25% overlap on two parts- but all four have the full 90º arc of the outer edge capable of being hit, so it's not blocking impacts. So I'm hoping that'll fly.

But other than that, it's what you see here, and 100 points.

Oh, and the deflectors are color-modded. One's orange, one's blue. It felt appropriate.

Oh yes I did.

And I'm working on a Weighted Companion Hypercube in my spare time.

A... a weighted companion HYPERCUBE!?

I'm both scared and aroused at the same time.

Don't worry, I have no problems - the way those pieces are shaped kinda limits you and they don't stretch in the right directions. Besides, the rules are there to keep people from abusing them, and it doesn't appear that your ship's doing that. :)

I'm using this illustration as a guide. Lots of section 10s, 26s, and 14s. I think it's going to have to be done as a space station. If I could only get things to rotate independently of the core, it'd be perfect. Some counter-rotating sections would be great for enhancing the whole thing, but I don't think parenting would be up to the task.

Its. A smegging. Box.
A Smegging, square, box.

Try adding some details onto it, arrange the weapons into a pattern. Just draw attention away from that fact that its a box.

Cube, box. Potato, potatoe. Which only really works if you hear someone say it.

And I hope you'll understand that calling it the Super Companion Cube only works if you see it's a cube.

Hopefully it won't be euphenized.
Don’t worry it has airbags.

What are those Companion Cubes based on anyways? They keep reminding me of Borg Cubes.

Here you go:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal_(vi ... _reception

My versions aren't especially accurate, but they're for tournaments, not appearance. I just find it highly amusing to beat the crap out of various dreadnoughts, gunships, and similar weapons of mass destruction by pitting them against heavily armed inanimate boxes. Its like the guy who chooses a pink avatar in Halo deathmatch, just so he can rag on the people he killed that they got beat up by some guy wearing pink.
