Okay, I just learned about parenting and am in the process of rebuilding all my ships, but I want to know something: How do you get the guns to face a certain way? I am working on a battleship in the vein of Space Battleship Yamato, a favorite anime of mine even though I haven't seen it in awhile, and I wanted the guns to be able to face to the side. I tried making my ship go broadside, but the guns don't fire because they are facing front. Help?

Yeah, I deigned it to be REALLY fast, but have little weaponry. As the description says, it's a light scout built for Starbase defense, a first responder of sorts. It's supposed to get in a slow the enemy down and keep them busy till the larger cruisers and battleships can come in and take 'em down. It's also like that so it's flanking ability is worth something. When I use in battle, it flanks the enemy ship, dodging most the shots till it's gets to the aft where it can cause more damage.

Actually, I did that already. Anyway, what is the rule of thumb on how many ships a fleet download should have? I currently have 5 ships, and I am looking at at least 5 to 6 more before I am done. I also plan on posting screens and loadouts of the updated ships when I have the chance.

Well, I decided that I need a small light carrier, some cruisers (because all I have are one battleship, 2 heavy carriers and 2 scout/escorts), a battlecarrier (because I love those) and maybe two more fighter/scout types, to round out the fleet. I have been drawing ideas from anime and game for basic ship designs, and then adding my own touches, so when I post pics, you will recognize the names for a few of them, he he.
Also, I was thinking of adding a space station into the mix, just for the heck of it. What do y'all think?

Just a quick few questions:
1. - Does layering parts make a ship more durable? I wanted to know because I tested my new battleship alongside the game's standard battle ship, the one that the admiral uses in the career mode (Sorry, I can't think of the name right now), against the Leviathan. Unfortunately, after about 10 minutes, the basic battle ship is destroyed while mine is still fully intact and hitting the Leviathan hard. It ended up destroying it by itself. Is that too tough? The same thing happens with my carriers. But yet, my smaller ships, which are NOT layered liked the bigger one, get destroyed more easily.
2. - I have noticed while looking at other people's ship designs, that their cores are different than mind. Is that because they layered the parts in a way that disguises the core, and can you change the core?

1- I'm not sure what you mean by layering, but there is a technique called "Ablative armour'. Basically, these are sections that are only designed to protect the actual hull, and are designed to blow without actually doing damage. Just another section, same type 'n roughly the same size as the parent one, placed underneath it, slightly peeking out from under it is the most common way.
2- There is a way to chage the core directly: select it, then right click. A menu appears, with an option "Change Core". Left click on this option, and a list with available core styles appears.
Hope I helped!
