B5 Forever

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

I am aware of your prize, and in fact, your sharlin was part of what encouraged me to recreating the babylon 5 fleets in this game. I totally agree on the colour scheme, too. It needs more blue. I have "Blued" it a little more, leaving some purple sections to represent the painting job on the hull of the ship
About its proportions, I based my work on this image:

I admit the difference between both might be noticeable, but I think mine is consistent enough with the show.

That's the result:

I also did some cleaning in order to avoid certain sections of the Vorchan cruiser to repeat as much as they did.

I considered building the Centauri Primus captital ship, but I can't remember any scene of the show showing it in battle beyond firing its mass drivers to bomb Narn, so I don't think I could represent propperly its weapons payload. If any of you remember any sequence where the Primus is seen in battle, please let me know.

I totally agree on the colour of the blasters. Everytime I try to change them, however, they are red. It happens for all the ships in the pack but the whitestar. All blasters in the Nova and Omega are ALREADY yellowish, but they still glow with red, so they look red. I have had this problem since I worked on the whitestar -as the blasters should be white, not red either. Green seems to be the only colour I could use which looked ok and didn't had red glow- no Idea on how to solve this problem, and I am open to any suggestions you can make.

About the beams on the back, I might add them. I know they exist on the omega -not really sure on the Nova, although they share the same rear section-, but I feared the AI of the ship would go crazy.
-EDIT: I already did add them on the omega-

I have left it out because with such an armored hull on it's top, I doubted it would be an interesting ship to make. I will reconsider it.

The only suggestion I have is to wait for the newer version which I guess has better weapon customization.

Oh. My. God. Finally, a version of the Earth Alliance Omega Destroyer that doesn't look like absolute garbage! That's excellent! All of them are very, very good for that matter. Wonderful work.

that is not so terrible as some things I have seen, and these are not bad for a first try.

I am curious about your centauri Primus. When I manage to finish the ship I am working on (the Victory Class Destroyer, for which I received help from Nash -The mighty creator of the DeathStar laser, the one who did what seems impossible-, so the main gun MIGHT be operational) which is about 50% completed -Most of the hull is finished, regular weapons are also done.

Well, the fact is I want to make my version of the Primus, but can't recall any sequence when we see the Primus engaged in a fight, so I would not know how to arm it, and how to balance it. If anyone could post a link to a youtube video, or to tell me about a chapter in the series where we see it fighting, I would be glad to make that ship.

How did you decide which weapon to give to that ship?

The victory class destroyer is really massive in comparison with the ships I have previously made... I hope you like it. It has some big combat drawbacks because of its size, however, as most ships will close in and go past the front of the ship, which has its forward firing guns. The massive ammount of starfury fighters it features helps it a lot (I am using the ammounts listed in B5Tech for all ships), and I plan to make the 360º weapon of the front section rather useful too, to compensate for its drawbacks. In long range, however, when the front of the ship can shoot and hit its enemies, It should be really deadly.

And now that the mission maker is coming, I thought about making a mission with some custom ships, in the Babylon5 universe. I would need brakiri, vree and drazi ships for that, a Vorlon cruiser at least... and 2 more sizes of shadow battlecrabs -and nerfing and refining the current one-

Remember the one in the first beauty pagent? I still have nightmares about it.

I know that it has the same Ion Cannons the Vorchan has, put four around the center, assuming the other four would be on the bottom, two beam cannons, one on each wing, two missile launchers (Need to find where those are). However, I can't find where the Pulse Cannons go...

I finally found a website listing the weaponry of the Primus, and some episodes it is on: The coming of Shadows and The Fall of Night.

I shall rewatch them by next week. I doubt I will be able to work anymore on ships until next week.

Basically I went to b5tech.com and looked up the weapons. I figured what the most logical array would have been and applied accordingly. I figured the mass driver/fighter bay was the massive gaping maw in the center.

I also found this picture: http://sfbuaw.com/images/C.jpg

The ion cannons I figured would best be served by the tachyon gun; it has high stock damage, is projectile based, and would destroy most ships in a single salvo. I remember that episode where the vorchan tore into a narn ship with it and it seemed right.

Technically it's supposed to be 8 double barreled guns, but I figured this would be relative enough to get the point across. :)

In posting, I hoped it would inspire one of you to do it better :)

Here's the video I found in a quick search on YT

Oh and I forgot to mention: thanks for not being too harsh. I was thinking of doing the Vree ship next; I always thought that scene they had where they attacked was pretty decent.

My thought was 15 weasel guns or gluon bolters to approximate the mass fire effect I remember watching on tv (15 AM cannons per b5tech).

Definitely the best B5 ships I've seen yet.

The Vree use antimatter shredder guns. Basically a very fast firing antimatter gatling gun. You could use a modded gatblaster or even a pulsar with green shots.
