A uh, really big ship?

Thanks again for the comments guys. I kinda wish the aegis deflectors didn't draw lines as there's enough on this ship to be sorta in the way, but i suppose then you wouldn't know which deflector goes to which part.
Anyway, if you guys have any other ideas let me know, but I probably won't build anything until shipmaker 3.0 comes out because of the whole incompatibility thing.
Maybe I'll try to build something small for once while we wait for it.

we'll believe that when it happens.Kazuael wrote:Maybe I'll try to build something small for once while we wait for it.
Look Up
upon reading this:
50% of people will have scrolled up
25% will have looked at their ceiling
The last 25% can now feel smug because everyone else has taken orders from a little sig box.

Sorry guys, I tried really really hard to make something that wasn't obscenely huge and it didn't quite work.

It's not uploaded yet as I'm still trying to tweak a couple things, but I'll update this post when it is up.
It's quite a bit more well armed than my other ships and has really nice broadside salvos. I wish you could link turrets together so they would fire in tandem but for now I guess I'll just hope they fire in the same direction, cause it looks nicer that way.
There's also still the little error where mirrored parts have strange depths and stack funnily, but that's mostly a cosmetic thing, the ship still works.
Thanks for the feedback guys, comments and criticisms are welcome as usual.

Be on the lookout for duped turrets!Kazuael wrote:There's also still the little error where mirrored parts have strange depths and stack funnily, but that's mostly a cosmetic thing, the ship still works.

Looking good, though. And looking significantly better armed, too!
Me too. I'd love to be able to attach two railguns side by side so that they rotated around a point between the main rotation points of both guns, for a proper twin-linked twin railgun.Kazuael wrote:I wish you could link turrets together so they would fire in tandem but for now I guess I'll just hope they fire in the same direction, cause it looks nicer that way.

=O Praise from the master himself! I am thoroughly humbled.
In all seriousness though, thanks a lot for the comments. I'm glad you guys are enjoying the ships as much as I enjoy making them.
I forgot to upload it earlier, so here it is for all of you who want to play with it.

th15, if it doesn't require a ridiculous amount of code to do, could I suggest the ability to link turrets together for v3.0? It'd let us do all sorts of cool salvo-ey things. Also, would it be possible to rotate the turret independently from its firing arc just so one could position the turrets a little nicer? This is purely aesthetic and thus a silly suggestion, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway while I'm ranting on.
Anyway, this'll probably be the last big ship I build before 3.0 (I know, I said that after the last one), but I really will try to build something small this time, maybe fighters or escort cruisers for this battleship.
Thanks again all.

Well. I throw my abomination into the ring for big-freaking-ships.
The Gaia Titanus.
Named after the Titan of earth Gaia, it is a massive giga-battleship (super just wasnt enough. Tempted to say tetra XD...) built more like an aircraft carrier of old than a ship-that is its more of a floating platform. However, unlike those of old, it is actually decently fast-and very quick to accelerate due to its massive engines. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for its so ability to menouver-i mean it IS larger than some small moons.
I would post a picture, but ah... My poor computer kinda... can't load it in sandbox... >.>''
But here it is! Enjoy, if someone wouldn't mind throwing a pic up for me it'd be wonderous.

Just for fun I threw these two guys against each other.

The Enigma lost horribly as the Agamemnon has almost enough deflectors to cover an entire side of itself, but it was still cool anyway.

I also rearmed the Agamemnon to be somewhat more realistic. In other words, let's detect the enemy four light days out, fire a billion missiles two light days ahead and hope they hit something while our wall of point defense keeps us alive. If they don't fire more until we get into kinetic weapon range, at which point we throw high velocity slugs at each other, and finally if it really comes down to it, short range pinpoint energy weapons.
I replaced the blasters with railguns just because blaster shots travel a bit too slowly for me, though ideally I would like to have blaster-esque sprites traveling at railgun speeds as kinetic weapons really wouldn't leave any trails in space. Then again, most energy weapons would be invisible too and that would be way less cool.
