My ship, criticism, and comments are welcomed.

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

My ship, criticism, and comments are welcomed.

My first ship is the TT0001APT, a assault cruiser. It is incomplete at the moment, due to me being lazy. As you can tell I'm not experienced in good parenting at the moment. The stats are also screwed up. So any advice would help.

Also if you have time I have, 2 questions to ask on the battleship maker:

1) How do you change the depth for the entire ship?

2) Why do some of the parts on my ship appear different in game?

So onto my ship:

The armaments so far include a battery of 6 laser turrets, and 8 rear defense mini laser turrets. The ship also has a scatter rail gun, as a means to shred through enemy hulls, and damage internal systems.

The ship itself relies on heavy front armor for protection, the weak points so far are the side, and rear.

well, as you stated the parenting(FIX IT DAMMIT!!!), them front prongs are horribly stretched....also when you say parts look different do you mean differently colored, cause that could be due to gradient.

I like the shape and design very much but is that the parenting structure I see there? Is every section parented by the ship's core? You should work on getting the parenting scheme correct. It would probably be easier to simply start over.

As for changing the depth of the whole ship I don't think you can. I think you can only do it one section at a time.

nice ship design! but i would give a word of caution with parenting structure like that tho, it could lead to some strange happenings like pieces of hull floating in space while still acting as if its still attached.

Not so! In SM3, at least, it's possible to change the parent of a selected section very easily.

Well, let's see. Parenting, already covered. The ship will look better if you use a bunch of different parts to create the curves rather than stretching things out, which is rather easy to do if you rotate them to get smooth lines on the outer edges. More work, better results.

The fact that the weak points are the sides, being as ovoid as this thing is, is rather painful to think about. It looks like it should be able to produce some serious broadsides, but you'd want to rotate the gatlings 45º for that, so they can fire forward and to the side. Other than that, it's a nice design.

No, I mean when I test my ship in Sand Box mode, some of the parts of the ship change into different parts then the ones I placed.

Example:

As you can see in the rear section of my ship, the parts are different from the ones placed in the shipmaker. This also goes for...pretty much the entire ship.

lol ur using the wrong version of shipmaker, you're using the one that's missing a ship part, which is why some get replaced.
