Untrue, Gundam Turn A (logo looks like "Gundam [upside down A]") is by far the best gundam series. So nyah. That said, it's also a giant parody of mecha. So if you haven't seen many you may not get some of the jokes.
EDIT: The entire point of Eva was to write characters that had severe psychological issues. The end isn't that "philosophical bullshit", it's perfectly clear if you pay attention.
Then again, I was watching the last few episodes on the japanese option of my menu, and I've never watched the english episodes past about...19. The english has better voice acting (I am not lying, the ability to express emotion sucks ass in the japanese version) but they cut some things out.
Eh. I thought Evangelion was great when I was twelve. All my ten years I absolutely loved it. It remained uncontested for years as my favourite anime until I realised that it wasn't the show itself that I liked, but the potential that the show had. The characters had all sorts of potential, as did the plot of the show itself. But it sadly never reached that full potential, because Hideaki Anno was every bit as much a of a nutjob as the characters in his story. And that was disappointing. But I still enjoy it, every now and then.
Based on what you said... I'll have to suggest Full Metal Alchemist. I'm not sure if you've seen it, or if it quite fits with what you want, but the story is very dark at times, the plot is interesting, the characters themselves are fascinating, and the world it's set in is awesome. I'd also probably recommend Fate/Stay Night, but I doubt you'd like the latter, much.

Gay cute girl and fucking proud of it.
Based off of the examples you've given, I'm not sure if you'd want to give Great Teacher Onizuka a chance. Its basically about a former street gangster who becomes a teacher and tries to reform a group of insane troublemaking students.
It's not really deep with interweaving storylines (the anime was cut short before the manga series it was based off of finished). The students are all stereotypical badass wannabe's with a dark secret that Eikichi uses to befriend them. It's not the most intense show to come around, but if you're ever looking for something short and funny, this anime will probably brighten your day.

Dark, humurous, body count starts at 5 every minute straight into the movie, no moe/pretty boy perfect hero(in) bullshit. Nobody is a hero, nobody has any noble intentions, only one person kicks any ass in this movie and he gets shafted pretty badly too.

Don't you understand? Death notes are serious business.
