Commonwealth of Independent Traders
Re: Commonwealth of Independent Traders
I tend to put more "realistic" placing for guns. But I know what you mean. Still, it is annoying when the Acquisition beats a Gargoyle.

Re: Commonwealth of Independent Traders
Huh, I thought the Gargoyle was a bit too powerful for the Acquisition to take on alone, but it seems to be a bit more powerful. You've got to remember though that the Acquisition is designed for taking out larger ships. If it gets flanked the drive section is very easy to take out which leaves it practically immobilised which means it can hardly use it's main weaponry, and as such it is pretty weak to lighter ships. Horsemonster pointed out in irc the other day that it's generally better to test equivalent fleets against each other than individual ships to test balance. (which reminds me, I need to come up with some more fluff for the CIT).
There is no OP, there is only more boosters...
Re: Commonwealth of Independent Traders
Oh yeah, I definitely realized that but my computer doesn't like more than 4 ships at once. It became obvious when it was beaten by a Minaret and Buttress.

OP updated with 100% more fluff and 200% more financial related puns.

Added a new ship, the Unity class armoured cruiser.

Aw, another one to kill my stuff. Let's see how it fares against an Arasaw...

Re: Commonwealth of Independent Traders
Ha, the arasaw rips it to pieces (as it does with every CIT ship, those torpedoes are painful). It's more on par with the Gargoyle.Doogie12 wrote:Aw, another one to kill my stuff. Let's see how it fares against an Arasaw...

Re: Commonwealth of Independent Traders
Is it hard to believe that if I moved the single PD gun on the arasaw 3 pixels forward it will lose to the Maelstrom? They're as perfectly on par as you can get.

Re: Commonwealth of Independent Traders
Are those balanced? I need something to balance my ships against in case my faction gets approved.

Re: Commonwealth of Independent Traders
^Ashtic commonwealth should be the universal balanced fleet.

@Doogie
Okay, thanks.
@Vidboi
Heh, those weapons are well hidden. Good job hiding them without making them invisible.

Re: Commonwealth of Independent Traders
The CIT should be properly balanced.
Re: Commonwealth of Independent Traders
Rothnian Republic wishes to open some trade routes with the CIT.
We mainly export small combat capable craft for wealthier civilians and organisations, capable of defending convoys from pirates.
They are fairly cheap while still tough for civilian ships. This would let your civilians and various organisation to use less money and resources for escorting trade ships, resulting in that being used elsewhere and therefore being benefitial to your faction.
There would also be some benefit for Rothnia, such as more avilable resources (and, more importantly, technology).
Seeing as there aren't any real downsides to it, this is probably a good opportunity for both factions.
