Well, back to shipmaking

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

Well, back to shipmaking

Post by Serithi »

Only ship i've done in quite a while is the Dark Messiah, which i made for Kiltric's tournament, so it's about damn time i made another one :P.

Couldn't think of a better name, so i call it the Spark.
Image
It's got a bunch of lightning doodads on its edge sections that won't really show up here because i have no idea how to take .gifs in SM (i tried Fraps, but it didn't work for SM, and because of my screen size and lack of enough RAM vids ingame can only be a few seconds long otherwise i can't edit them with the program i use. A few seconds is probably enough anyway, but i can't be assed right now :P).

It also has those glows on the edge sections, i wanted to make it look like the light's caused by the shield. The glows disappear when the shield goes down. The glows on the sections around the crystal are parented to the sections they're on, since i gave the crystal high HP so chances are the other sections will be destroyed first, otherwise it'd look weird having these blue glows floating around if i parented them to the crystal but the other sections got destroyed*.

Image
Naturally, it shoots out lighting beams of death. I also put a thruster in the crystal there, so it looks like it's glowing when the ship's moving forward.

C&C appreciated.

*Can get floating glows from shooting out the edge sections without destroying the shield itself, but sadly there's no good workaround for that.

appropriate name for it! Looks pretty neat and I will definitely play with it a bit. Based on what your saying I don't know if it would make a difference but Bandicam also works quite well with bsf.

I might not be remembering correctly but I believe gif capture is shift f9. But f1 is help so its probably on there. Good luck!

Next up, the Frost. Not nearly as many doodads on this one, but still :P.

If your thinking to make a bigger version of the "Spark", an appropriate name would be "Zeus".

Anyways, I'm loving the great effect.
Urist, why is that mega beam firing without a section connected?
