Image recorded by a frigate shortly before its patrol fleet was attacked. Of the twelve vessels in the patrol, only three survived and were able to jump away. Data from the other two surviving vessels (another frigate and a destroyer) is currently being analyzed.

Crew of the frigate state that the ships hyperspaced in at close range to the patrol fleet. Attempts were made to hail the unknown ships, but no communications were recorded. Following the communications attempts, the unknown fleet opened fire on the patrol, with six vessels being destroyed in the opening volley.

Crew reports small vessels (previously classified as Type 1) very fast and heavily armed with some sort of beam weapon. Capabilities of the other ship, including the large ship in the middle of the formation (designated Type 4) remain unknown at this time.

All forces are to be placed on high alert. Unknown threat is now classified under designation Malandanti.

Nice use of the planet's color to add atmosphere to your picture. Kinda weird designs, but that's intentional, I suppose.

Hmm, I was going to make a "GIANT ENEMY CRAB! HIT WEAK SPOT FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE" comment about the ships at the bottom of the screen...

But what strikes me even more is the nice colour scheme and structure of these guys.
Even though they're not all symmetrical and clean as I like my ships, they're unique and extremely attractive for other reasons as well.

It'd be interesting what kind of weapons that they'll get.

...holy crap. I just tested my Type 4 design against a Ragnarok and it killed it in under 2 minutes.

Actually, the other ships will probably be smaller.

Type 4 is so wankeriffic it's retarded. It's a combination of overpowered weaponry and the way in which it's employing them.

"Malandanti" is an Italian word meaning "bad walker." It's a type of evil witch. That's not the name of their race, it's just the codename given to them.
