Indeed not... for one thing, it would probably screw up the balance a little bit because the front of the dagger!Cronus has more redundant sections that could absorb damage than either the current canon Cronus or the classic Cronus has...that thing had better not replace the cronus.
not that it isn't cool, it just shouldn't replace it. No no no.
As for the altered section textures, I'm all for it... I reckon they look better this way... Not as sure about the gradient thing... but I assume it'll look better with the game in motion...

What am I going to do about that? Well I'm going to give you more game. There's a really long list of bug fixes in this version. The last was really rather buggy.
The first thing you'll notice is the way the ships look. I've considerably reworked the way the sections are drawn in game. They now have a gradient applied to them so that the ship is brighter near the core and darker at the edges.
This is just the first step in much larger changes to come. I'm pretty unsatisfied with a fair portion of the game content at the moment. I'll be re-writing a lot of the career and re-working the missions. Adding the gradient effect to the ships is definitely a step towards making them less cartoony.
I know some of you have been waiting for ShipMaker 3.0 for a long time, but it's not ready yet, don't worry though, once it's done the features that it'll have will blow you away. Instead, I patched up the old version of ShipMaker (2.x) which is included in this version.

I'm sorry Th15 but I really dislike that move, my color scheme I had going got totally fubar'd. My Dreadnoughts have noses that are charred black so I can barely see that part of the ship now.The first thing you'll notice is the way the ships look. I've considerably reworked the way the sections are drawn in game. They now have a gradient applied to them so that the ship is brighter near the core and darker at the edges.
Not to sound bitchy, really, but this has me really, really frustrated.
Oh and to add to that, the darkening of the colors is what toppled my scheme. Now my Pure white is Grey, my Grey is black, and my Tan is brown.....

I don't like the new section look. The poor pieces are now overtextured, but not only that, the new textures look ugly. The small parallelogramish piece and the (formerly) untextured triangular wing piece look like they have been vandalized with graffiti, with the new curvy and random texture that clashes horribly with the other sections. The same can be said for the T-shaped piece and the tiny rectangular piece, but at least their textures don't look like someone scribbled on it.
The gradient is OK. I didn't think the ships looked cartoony at all before the gradient, so I am indifferent to it.
As for the bug fixes,

As for the bug fixes,

I haven't noticed any massive loss of colour, apart from (as Lizzie says) the drops from white to grey and grey to darker grey.
Honestly, I think the core-highlighting system is entirely unnecessary. Killing the core is not the immediate goal of many of these ships - to the point where I actually resorted to implementing aegis-based barriers around the Myrmidon's core to prevent it dying by overpowered railguns too easily.
And I do agree with W&W; keep the originals - add the new ones as optional, or at least update all of the pieces instead of just one or two. That said, the changed cargo canister makes the engine style I use even niftier.

1: Your ships were dark colored to begin with.Arcalane wrote:I haven't noticed any massive loss of colour, apart from (as Lizzie says) the drops from white to grey and grey to darker grey.

Anyone want to see a pic of my ships to see my issue? I'll gladly show.
