I think you're better off just making the new version overwrite the old one.

Actually I just made three rounds with some of my ships.
Round one was with four frigates a cruiser and three wings of bombers against one of each.
AI on AI.
Lead bombers carried EMP torpedoes so yours got ass-raped since their guns were toast. But the did take out most of my bomber squadron. Capitals suffered no damage.
Round two. Same fleet as last time without bombers. Yours still got raped but one of your area off effect weapons hit a cruiser(light(yellow) damage to the engineering in the rear of the ship) and a frigate (heavy (orange with spots of red an yellow) damage across the command and engineering).
Are you using sabot by the way? The shots went all the way through the ships before detonating.
Since that seemed unfair to me, I went on a 2vs2 with my cruisers. One AI and one under my command.
The ships were spaced far enough apart that they started dueling and mine won in both cases.
Lack of point defence meant that my ships took you apart rather fast.
And they're only as big as the front part of the ship (front to orange glowy bits). But that's probably only because mine are rather...missile happy ships in a missile happy universe. And of course the ships I put yours against are dedicated battleships.
I like the maneuvering thrusters you put on the ships.
They remind me of the first ones I posted. Though much better.
Now I have to make a destroyer and prepare some more fights.

lol nice, and yeah I'm still using sabot - they can be, unpredictable... (I've one-hitted a heavy battleship before xD) they're meant to be anti-capital as they penetrate straight through small ships, and yeah, the destroyers are pretty weak against missiles

Actually, I was mistaken when I said bombers.
They were multipurpose fighters with the biggest torpedoes they could carry.
If they were bombers, you could fit the ships inside a normal vacuum cleaner dustbag after the first pass.
But let's leave it at that.
About your carrier. How much bigger than the destroyers do you intend to make it?

shadowlancers aren't picky...
the carriers based on the same hull (it's more a support carrier) so it'll probably just be a bit longer, have a big runway sticking out of it (i'm planning it to be asymetric) and with more defensive weapnry and no artillery turret

Not liking the deck at this stage of work. Looks strapped on than built on. Maybe try using more than one deck?

update:

I'm pretty set on the shape now (having multiple runways on an escort carrier would be a bit overkill), and now all I need to do is finish making/modifying sprites. btw the covers over the runway that I've used for the rough build are actually scrap sprites that were originally made as extensions to the wings
