BSF Shipmaker 3.2 questions

Post by Nemi »

Hey all, new here I guess. Not really sure where to put this, so eh.

Anyways, I've been fooling around with the Shipmaker program. There's some things I wanted to ask. My version is 3.2.0.0

How do you assign parts for the Aegis Deflector to deflect? Is it like normal parenting?*

Why do the core parts keep reverting back to normal colors for me?*

Does the AI range field mean that that's how far the ship will see, in pixels?*

The Kamikaze AI leaves a blank, and whenever I'm testing out my ship, it keeps crashing whenever the computer uses it.*

*refers to answered questions.

It's been a while since I messed around with the shipmaker, but I -can- answer one of the questions!

In order to get an aegis to target a section, click on it, and press T! It's only one targeted section per aegis. As a note, they cannot target the core... Also, Boosters work the same way. (If you didn't notice.)

Sorry that I can't answer the other questions.

Also, welcome to the forums! Hope you enjoy your stay.

AI range is the distance the ship tries to maintain with it's target. It is advaisable that the AI range is LESS than the range of the weapons.

Kamikaze AI makes the ship do just that - it flies at the enemy and blows itself up. Note that if it has weapons it will cause errors in use. You can also press 'k' in game to activate this for any ship.
Look Up
upon reading this:
50% of people will have scrolled up
25% will have looked at their ceiling
The last 25% can now feel smug because everyone else has taken orders from a little sig box.

Core parts always revert back to default colour when you open the ship in shipmaker.
For aegis, all you have to do is select the aegis deflector, move your mouse over the piece you want it to target, and press "t".
To get kamikaze ai in game you actually have to press ctrl+k.

Hope that answers your questions (what Da_Higg said about ai range was right), and welcome to the forums.

Kamikaze ships used by the AI will cause an error on detonation. Just ignore and it will be fine.

If you want a ship to kamikaze, just don't include any modules or weapons and it will do so automatically from any AI setting.

Nah, that only happens if you have the Fleet AI controller turned on I think. Left alone, they won't do that.

Incidentally, what does the Fleet AI controller do?

Makes it so AI controlled ships will automatically seek out targets regardless of the distance between them.

Ah ic.

I don't use that. I use the max range setting instead.
