BREAKING NEWS
Okay, guys, I can't provide any sources, and I probably shouldn't even be talking about this, but I've just got word from a friend who works at a big publishing house that they're this close to purchasing the rights to Battleships Forever. He says that executives are rather charged about the 'forever' concept, and plan on releasing Battleships '09 by the end of the year if the deal goes through.
They've apparently already done a lot of thinking on how to market the game. They're shooting for a cross-platform release. The shipmaker is staying in, but there will be a point system to ensure performance on consoles, who can be picky on that sort of thing. One of their ideas is that you'll only have about 10 parts and really simple weapons at hand when you buy the game, and you'll have to pay to expand your selection. I not so sure about that, but it sounds like there are plans to offer even more weapons and sections as time goes on, which should be pretty cool
I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty excited about this!

Point system? Buying parts? FAIL! Period.

It's not an April Fool if it cannot be disproven, just like Pastafarianism.Siber wrote:Releasing a game commercially on Game Maker would be unworkable. I thought it was obvious they would do a ground-up rebuild in a faster language, so I didn't bother to mention it.
"didn't bother to mention it" - You're covering for yourself. Try and be more credible next time.

Didn't expect it to fool anyone for long but there you go.
On the other hand, there is relatively good news;
[17:36] <@th15> was the last version 12th feb? mmm
[17:41] <~Arcalane> yes
[17:42] <~Arcalane> I had to LOCK the What's in Store thread because the whining got out of hand.
[17:53] <@th15> mmm
[17:53] <@th15> honestly I've been spending my time working on carpe
[17:54] <@th15> i'm a wee bit sick of working on battleships forever. and mucking with it without any enthusiasm isn't going to help it
[17:54] <@th15> so i just want to do something else for awhile before i get back on that
[17:55] <~Arcalane> heh
[17:55] <~Arcalane> was there anything important to go with the "What's In Store" notice, though? :p
[18:01] <@th15> yes, still working on a deal

Egad! Game_boy lives simply to call out Siber!
I find pastafarianism an entirely plausible religion, just as well and soundly based as any other religion out there. Even if it's just a parody religion.
But, I don't blame th15 for getting a little bit less enthusiastic about BSF. He's been working on the project for a damn long time (by internet terms), and if you really look at it, BSF doesn't really have room for much more improvement that wouldn't simply be "stacking the pancakes on. Especially the disgusting ones made from commercial pancake mix."
Awesome + Awesome does not equal Awesome x 2.
I just hope that Carpe Universum gets a big boost now, like a custom weapon editor or something =P.
