Zalausai's Ships and Ship Ideas

Let's face it, the main attraction of BSF is building your own ships. Share them! If you need help, check the Shipmaker Info & Help forum a little ways down.

The arms look silly and don't fit well - you've got to come up with a new way to do arms, you always go with that old school 50's robot arm shape which I think looks ridiculous, and it throws off the design. Try taking a look at Talhydras' old ships for some of the best arms on wyrdysm.

Other than the arms it's very much a step in the right direction. The orange colour helps a lot by making them less of a generic grey and red. I do think the dark red could stand to be a touch brighter though, since it's pretty hard to see right now. The sectionwork seems mostly pretty solid, though the back end and what I assume is the core cover (the big triangle) has less detail than everywhere else, which you may want to change. I'm not quite sure why you have odd angled things on the nose breaking up the flow, but if there's some purpose to them then I guess it's excusable.
Keep at it though, you'll get a new style for these that's as nice as your new HG style.

Sadly, there is no purpose to the odd angled parts. It is simply an experiment to see how it would look. The arms have been completely redone with many more articulation points. I am greatly displeased with both this ship and myself for making it. It's suffering from a massive case of shipmaker's block (writers block for BSF). For that reason, I will be moving on to another HLB experiment ship instead.

As for Talhydra, I couldn't find any of his ships with arms (I didn't look very hard. I'll try again later).
HLB Tyrant<br />For all intents and purposes complete. I will leave the name available for a ship that is more deserving later.

New Experiment. Sections and color only so far. Judge it only by that.

The arms are better, though I'm not sure about the rounded bits on the joint. The new one looks nice so far.

I have a feeling that your New Experiment would work well as a rocket sprite for CC.

The experiment has been doodaded. Perhaps there are a few too many doodads.

Hmm... I like the lights along the sides, centreline and around the engine, but I'm not sure about the large glows beside the core.
Don't know what I'd replace them with, though.

The sectionwork is great :)

I like the grey centre line ship best, breaks it up a bit and looks a little more industrial like.

Here is another HLB ship (one more, then I can work on the story revision)

This one actually has statistics and can function in the DGW. (Test it if you want)

I've yet to see an actual ship taking advantage of it's long shape by going broadside. I think that would fit your experimental #10.

Really? Broadside ships used to be all the rage. Mioran ships are kind of broadside, they just have cheaply wide firing arcs.

I'll make sure to make my next ship all broadside-y.
