Aquilonian Fleet. COMPLETE!

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Very nice, they look better with the outline on them (the first pic you showed didn't have the outline or, for that matter, weapons). I have two questions about their armament, Both have to do with those yellow section thirteens slightly behind and above/below the core. The questions are: 1)What weapon does the Poseidon have on them? I see a Gluon Bolter, but also something underneath that. 2) Why does the beam variant also have pulsars on those circles? Shouldn't it have megabeams or something? I'm saying not you should change them, I'm just wondering. Also, are the weapons modded (if so, for all of your ships or just this one/other ones)? Note, I'm not counting colour mods.

I added a bit more stuff after the last pic, the small fins making it look like an outline was one of them. I changed the tail end abit as well.

1) The Poseidon has gluon bolters only on those section 13s. Since I zoomed it out to take a pic of all 3 ships at one time, the detail is a bit lost on that particular section.
2) Zeus has pulsars as well on the section 13s because there aren't any long range beamers. Unless of course, I mod it. Hmmm maybe I should put on some modded long range shock beamers. Seems interesting. Basically, the middle section of the super structure carries armament which are similar for all three ships. The differences are the outer guns.
3) All weapons are stock, except for the plasma cannons which I modded and named 'Tectonic Missile Launchers', as the signature weapons of the fleet. On Zeus, I also modded the mega beamer.

I balanced the dreadnought to be able to take on two Nagaya3s but three Nagaya3s will cause heavy damage.

Well, I'm glad that there are modded weapons (they often make the ship for me). Also, about the question about gluons, for some reason it looked like there was an impeder or something underneath them but now that I look again, I don't know why I though that.

Also,
I'm saying you should change them, I'm just wondering.
Sorry, that was a typo (I think I fixed them all), I was in a bit of a hurry typing that, but I've fixed it now. And, don't worry, I don't think you should change them unless you want to. And, if you do, I think long ranged, modded shock beamers would work pretty well.

ACDC, you says?

Anyhow, I really like these ships. The color scheme is well done, they're a lot better than my first try at a fleet (not that that means much. mine was hideous. this one isn't.).

Anyhow....

A good fleet overall. Although I have a thought, could you try making the Manta a bit less repetitive? Y'know, the back section/wings/fins/whatever the friggin mustard it is?

Hahaha yeah, I had that feeling when I typed down ACDC as well.

Anyhoo, I re-edited the manta and changed the wing. It is still repeatable but less annoying I think, kinda like feathers.

It has been some time but the Aquilonian Shipyard is still churning out ships. I present to you, the Hammerhead and Mako ships!

Descriptions are in the OP.

Now I can start work on the Great Whale Command Ship. However, the overall shape of a whale is kinda boring but I will see what I can do to spice it up. It being a larger ship than the Carcharadon is going to be difficult for me as well.

Hammerhead looks absolutely great, and the mako looks good too.

Don't worry about big ships either, they're easy once you get used to them.

Finally, I have finished the Great Whale Capital Ship and in effect, finished the fleet! I hope you like the ship. I don't know how you guys did it but it gets very difficult to select parts when there are too many of them. I wanted to add more details like some sort of overlay effect but I gave up when it was simply impossible to select the parts and clone them into the appropriate layers. This was the best that I could do with what I had. It turned out quite ok if I could say so myself. Here are some pics of it. The brief writeup and download for the whole fleet can be found in the OP.

It's definitely not bad by any means but I think the dreadnoughts have more aesthetic appeal. This ship simply looks too chubby compared to the rest of the fleet. The good thing is, we can now convert Moby Dick into the space age!

Holy Sincakes, That thing is beautiful! The shape's great and I like the opening in the center for the beam, I sometimes do that, it looks great if you can get the beam to be the right width. I'm not sure if you know, because you were complaining about not being able to select pieces under other ones, but ctrl+clicking selects the bottom piece or weapon, however, when you ctrl select, pieces won't get parented to the piece you ctrl selected, they'll be parented to the one you previously selected. If this doesn't make perfect sense, forgive me, I was having a little trouble phrasing it properly.

The entire aquatic design theme is incredible. I really like ships with common designs and themes, and since all of yours are more or less shaped like actual animals it adds even more to it. The size, scope, and loadout of your ships seems skillfully balanced. I agree that the colors are quite aggressive, and I think they fit the ships well. So far My two favorite ships that you have done are the hammerhead and the scorpi ... scorpinid ... the one with the big claws and the little defender satellites.

Further more, the Great Whale is AWESOME! It looks completely amazing, and the weapons are grouped/positioned in a way that truly adds more than just firepower to the ship. The only time I notice repetition is in the back, on the sides, in the grey colored parts. Even then, it really isn't displeasing to the eye and I don;t mind it all that much.

Basically, great work on great ships. Bonus points for using a theme.
