I though so. That's why I asked whether you had gradients on. Anyway, will there be any dreadnoughts or perhaps even, Super-Dreadnoughts? If so, awesome. If not, I look forward to whatever comes next, even if it's not a super-dreadnought. If the fleet is finished, then well done.Fixed the colour issue. It seems that you have to choose 'no gradient' from the core and the colours stay as how it is in the Ship Maker.
Aquilonian Fleet. COMPLETE!

At first I thought all the ships in the fleet (currently) would be complete seeing that the roles of each ship has been nicely represented. However, after seeing other fleets, I do want to make some sort of strike ships and also dreadnought type of ships. To follow the theme maybe a shark type or something aquatic. I haven't made any large ships yet because it seems quite complex with finding the right shaped sections to complement each other and make everything 'work'.
On the other hand, I have also made another fleet with a different theme. I have made 5 ships for that fleet already. The only thing that I have to think about are the names. This particular fleet was started when Comus started his 'Simple Visual Test Ship' thread and I decided to try my hand at using the doodads to add a lot more to my ships. Although not as good as Comus, I am quite satisfied with the results. I will post them in a different thread when I have come up with their names.

Taking your advice, I modified some parts of the ship to look more like its namesake. So here it is, the Acanthuridae Patrol Corvette.
Acanthuridae Patrol Corvette
Seeing that the fleet was lacking any patrol type of ships, the Aquilonians went to work. The ship had to be fast, manoeuvrable and able to outrun any heavy ships. Hence, the Acanthuridae Patrol Corvette was born. It had the fastest engines in the fleet and was able to flank any enemy ships with ease. However, it lacked armour and it needed its speed to overcome any hard hitters.

Right now I am thinking of making a Carcharadon Dreadnought and a Great Whale Capital Ship. Maybe make more variation of shark type of ships as well. A hammerhead ship sounds interesting.

Oh I was getting ahead of myself. When I have done the Carcharadon Dreadnought, I am thinking of making more shark variation ships. What I have in mind for future designs would be a hammerhead and mako shark.Bad Boy wrote:Awesome, I can't wait to see those. But what do you mean by more variations on the shark type? You haven't posted any shark types.
Yeah some people don't like the colour. One of my other main reasons is because alot of people in this forum didn't use that colour scheme for their fleet. So I am making it mine.gompasta wrote:these ships are quite good (exept the colors......(i use thet but i don't use the yellow in my ships .).)
but is it just me or does the mante seem a bit repetitive ?
The wings of the Manta Carrier is repetitive. However, I haven't gone back to see what I can do about them. At this moment, I am building my Carcharadon Dreadnought and it is teaching me a new way of building ships, ie the bone and meat method. First make the bones then slowly build the meat. However, I added the outer layer (skin) just to get the silhouette and probably remove it later.
UPDATE:
Here is my Carcharadon without weapons. Any comments or improvements? Since this is my first time making a ship of this size, wondering if it looks good.

Pretty damn awesome. I have only two suggestions, 1) use less repetition on the tail. 2) Send those big, glaring section 26s to the back (I just say this because I really don't like them. I can't wait to see it armed. Keep up the good work.
PS great of you to use the spine idea, I always use it and it works well for me.

Updated with the Carcharadon Dreadnought! Enter Zeus, Hades and Poseidon. Check it out in the OP.
