Broadsides Ahoy!

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Broadsides Ahoy!

Post by Deathguard »

Eh, I decided to make another proper battleship, and since my last thread encountered problems I have made a new one.
Yes, I used FNine.

A mighty craft, the Godwrought. It sports massed broadside projectile weapon systems and advanced frontal sheilding to force the enemy into attack weapon range. Though it is fast for it's type, it's engine systems are dangerously exposed.

After field testing and independant advice, the Version Three, codename "R2-Powered" was released. This features added close-defence batteries and additional gun batteries.

Get your weapons off the edge. They can get blown off from there. Apart from that, very nice...

... but it looks like it has feet...

Uh, and?
Most of the stock ship weaponry can easily be destroyed. The sheilding deflects quite a bit of the firepower I tested throwing at it.

What do you mean, and? If those weapons come off, you'll have a toothless ship flying around.

But, if you say it can take it, well, fine.

Another one, oh yup. A bit different, though. More a novelty than a long-time investment in ships.

The Space Hulk!

A pirate craft, hastily scrapped together from ambushed Fleet forces. It may look odd but it packs a punch.

Did you download and try the ship against the stock enemies?
It's not as vunerable as it looks, and the weapons on the stock ships get stripped away quite quickly.

The stock ships can lose a majority of their weapons easily, but usually have some stashed near the core or behind their bulk that will survive until near the end, so that you don't end up with a weaponless hulk getting pounded on for a minute or two before it blows up. See the rear two beamers on the Cronus. I haven't played your ship yet, but it looks like there is the potential for stripping it's guns without killing the majority of the ship itself. Putting a gun or two deeper would help. You don't have to hide all of the weapons, though.
seriously Anna. seriously oh my gawd seriously.

The original now has so much wrong with it I'm temporarily taking the links down. In a moment I'll post a new, fixed version

Edit;
New version 3 posted. Might turn this into a community project, heh.
Any more suggestions, people? I'm open to any!

If you're referring to the Flak Cannon, intentional.
Hey, it's a space hulk. Bits always come flying off.

Heiros Shipyards would like to present the refined Athena Mark II-R model.

Image

We feel this is a more effective and refined version of the original, although turning speed has suffered due to the increased size. Two large thrusters provide an additional 0.50 units of thrust at top speed but due to their weight provide no acceleration bonus.

Additional weapon systems have been added, as have additional defense systems. We estimate that this battleship is at least 1.5x as effective as the previous model.

The off-center particle gun on the starboard wing mount isn't out of place in the ship file.
