Unnamed ship is still unnamed but done. Now in 3 colors!

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Do you mean to tell me that you've all been using uncoloured point beams?

I tried coloring point beams and it gave me errors when I tried to load em.

Wow, it amazes me that so many veteran shipbuilders don't know how to colour point beams. As I said earlier, and I'll now say in more detail, look in the edit tab of a point beam. You'll see all of the basic weapon things including bullet colour, leave bullet colour alone, or else you'll get errors. To change the colour of the point beam, change the thing that says 'outer colour'. Then the point beam will be the colour you want it to be without any errors.

Kazuael, sorry for somewhat derailing your thread.

That's an incredible piece of work you have there... I'm honestly awed by it. Something in the shape and colour.

The one thing that detracts from the view (IMO) are the Mega Tachyons, simply because they hog a lot of space as with any ship.

No problem bad boy, thanks for the insight actually.

The megatachyons are just there to hide beamers. I'd actually prefer it if they didn't glow blue, but oh well. I tried to make some more creative weapon arrangements, but I couldn't quite get the shapes I wanted.

Ship's done, still needs a name though. The weapon loadout has changed significantly, and is now all projectile weapons with the exception of the point beams.

Also, it's now available in three colors!

The standard blue

A bit dimmer green

And a very angry looking red

Name and backstory still to come, for possibly the fourth time now, will be done today considering the beauty pageant deadline is Sunday.

amazing work. It wouldnt look bad with several colors though, like the beam is blue, the ship highlights are green, and the propulsion or whatever is red. You will definitely do well in the pageant though!

Looks awesome, the green is really nice. I have to admire your dedication in changing all of the colours so many times, it's quite amazing. You changed the weapon colours to match the colour changes right? Also, can you post an action shot so we can see how it's weapons look?

Its weapons aren't actually all that interesting, just some rapid fire pulsars, some big pulsars, and some drivers. There's also a spraying weasel kinda thing under the megatachs, but i forgot to fire it in that screenshot. The main weapon is just a large driver shot that does preposterous amounts of damage.

Anyway, here's the backstory deal. The blue version is the one I'm entering in the contest as the red and green ones look funny due to the blue glow around all of the aegis generators.

Picture of the Constellation to go with the backstory.

This ship's design is roughly based on the Constellation class hybrid battleship/capital ship hunter. The Constellation was designed to outmaneuver ships of similar size, having less mass than most vessels of its size due to its bizarre scaffold-like interior. This was ultimately deemed too fragile and the design was scrapped.

The design found new life in the Cathedral of Stars. Named for its appearance, its name belies its purpose. Designed to fulfill the same role as the Constellation, it features a similar scaffold like design, although the support struts are now more heavily armored. The more elegant arcs of the Constellation were replaced with a much broader and structurally sound hull, although remnants of the original design can be seen along the centerline of the ship.

The ship is designed to engage and destroy vessels up to a similar size, and as such is not equipped to take down dreadnaughts or titan class vessels. Its primary weapon batteries allow it to engage multiple smaller vessels at once. These armaments consist of rapid firing charged particle repeaters (smaller pulsars on the wings), slower and heavier particle cannons (large pulsars near the core), and mass drivers that fire spinning projectiles that bore into enemy hulls on impact (drivers on the wings). 60 (Represented by 20 missile launchers with a clip of 3) VLS missile tubes allow it to engage enemies well outside of the range of its standard unguided projectile weapons. It also mounts two saturation devices that are designed to overwhelm point defense arrays or to hit faster moving vessels (weasels under the megatachyons). This allows the ship to bring its main weapon to bear, which is in essence a massive and much more powerful version of the mass drivers (Spine mounted weapon near the core).

Defensively, four gravitic impeders slow projectiles long enough for the point defense array of pulse lasers to vaporize them. The nigh impenetrable shield on the front of the ship serves a dual purpose: it is designed to both protect the bow of the ship while attempting to bring the main gun to bear as well as to serve as a ramming device if necessary.

The glowing centerline of the ship is a side effect of the constantly maintained charged particle field that is designed to ionize and accelerate the main gun's projectile. This field also has the side effect of being a barrier to shots coming in the opposite direction.

With the exception of the radiation and heat sinks near the engines, all of the other glowing parts on the ship are purely decorative, and only serve to give the ship its name.

There we go. I declare this ship finished. It is now break time for me.

Ah, it is in the beauty pageant topic, but here it is again:

http://www.wyrdysm.com/battleshipsforev ... _Stars.shp

It's not nearly as strong a lot of other peoples' vessels, but it is significantly stronger than stock vessels. It's actually not balanced in any way as I built it more for looks than for it to actually fight anything.
