When I made a search around the forums and saw that in a beauty pagent, I knew I had to turn this thread into mine, since I thought I could do better. I hope the Thread Starter is inspired by my work.Da_Higg wrote: Remember the one in the first beauty pagent? I still have nightmares about it.
That is the kind of thing I tried to do first. But the fact is we don't always see all the listed weapons in use in the show. B5tech is great for information and numbers, but I don't think I can recreate the feeling of the show following it. Because, for instance, how do we know what's the colour of the beam weapons the primus is supposed to have if we have never watched them in any episode? So I only use B5tech for reference in sizes, number of fighters carried... Anything that is not clear on the show. For everything else, I use the series.garland wrote:Basically I went to b5tech.com and looked up the weapons. I figured what the most logical array would have been and applied accordingly. I figured the mass driver/fighter bay was the massive gaping maw in the center.
So I think what I will do is equiping it with these four double fast-firing guns (combining upper and lower batteries) and tweak its damage to balance the ship against every other ship in the fleet. And I will add a mass driver to it, just because we have seen it working.
That's the kind of things I was looking for. It's much appreciated. ^-^garland wrote:I also found this picture: http://sfbuaw.com/images/C.jpg

Here's the video I found in a quick search on YT

Not being to harsh? your ships are indeed really good for a first fanship. Specially if you think there has been -almost- no section resizing. Creating a ship as complex as those using nearly stock section sizes really shows talent.garland wrote: In posting, I hoped it would inspire one of you to do it better

Oh and I forgot to mention: thanks for not being too hars
Some of my ships really suffer from stretching. Specially the Warlock in its front section. I want to try rotating different sections to achieve the same effect without such a work of resizing, but it will have to wait some days, since real life can be such a pain...
That's the keyword: "Yet". I am sure someone will come after me and create much better models, closer to the ones on the show. Although I admit I love controling the starship creator files of the whole fleet I am working on, since I do not need to get into an argument with anyone. Things are exactly as I want them to. Which doesn't mean I don't accept critizismn. Auriak suggestions really helped me improving the Sharlin, for instance.th15 wrote: Definitely the best B5 ships I've seen yet.
Anyway, I don't think the merit is mine, but of the amazing tool you have provided us with. It is extremely easy to use with the keyboard, capable of almost complete customization of any of the parts forming your creation, and featuring vital options like changing your background to have a blueprint to build something over it.
