Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Forgive me for bitching but I wish to know what is wrong with all of you? How is it that a thread for a shitty noob ship got three pages of replies, but good ships and fleets that have been around for a while have fewer or only slightly more (see Spootech ships). This happened with khanas too, his mediocre ships got several pages of replies, consisting primarily of people flaiming him. I'm not saying that numble shouldn't be flamed for what he did, but posting to say something like, "I think that Anna is being harsh on him, his ship isn't that bad", or "lulz this flame war is stupid, lulz111" is unnecessary and stupid. This terrible ship thread got four pages of replies in two fucking days (holy shit, if things were to continue at this rate, he'll overtake the word association game) by many valued members of the forums, while decent ships and fleets get next to no replies. Yes I know that I'm exaggerating, but it really annoys me. What should have happened was a couple of people flamed him, he said, "Oh, forgive me for erring, I will go and make decent worthwhile ships with cool, interesting weapons, and then I will post them and not get flamed" or, he takes it badly, and bitches and moans while nobody pays attention to him. Then his thread would fade into obscurity and the world would be a slightly better place. Sadly, neither of these things happened.

Anna needed to not reply in such a negative manner i believe. It doesn't matter how much BSF ShipMaker experience you have, its the attitude you have.
This game became what it is through the likes of new players joining it's ranks. This game will only survive by the induction of new players.
You were once new to this game too i believe.

Sure, the original poster could've read a bit more of the forums.
Sure, his ship could've been mirrored, designed, parented better.

But did he really need a 'veteran BSF' player to reply with his 'I'm having a bad hair day' negative attitude? Then coupled with further abuse once you realised that he didn't seem to recognise your saccharin sarcastic response.

In other games, the veteran players that other players look up to, are also perhaps the 'ambassadors' of the game - you didn't exactly portray that.

Having said all the above I do feel that my 'low post count', 'low popular vote' and lacking the 'OMG that awesome' ship designing certificate will mean that I will be 'pigeon holed' into some scorned player category.

No, but idiocy and sterotyping will get you there pretty fast. Not to mention overuse of quote marks.

*sigh*

We all are Forum Warriors on the Internet aren't we?

As much as my post has some subjectivity in it, and sure i was guilty of applying (a much lower level of) sarcasm in it, i still made a point relevant to what's being discussed.

You haven't.

Once again an important point has been lost in the chaotic world of Forum Beat Down.

However, I am sure that there will be a justification for it. There always is. As long as it deviates from the point.

Honestly, I should have locked it sooner.

But sometimes it's more fun to watch you people flail around. :]

Arc, please lock this abomination. As much fun as it may be to watch everyone "flail around", it's really annoying that this thread has four pages (and will probably soon have five) in two days while many decent threads don't get this much attention in their whole lives (see previous long winded speech for more details).
