Either your salivary glands are not working properly, or you need a stimulant (like a plate of cookies).Lizzie wrote:But I'm not drooling yet.
Seriously, once I saw the many versions of that same ship, I was thinking, "Hell no, Anna will be damn envious". When can all of us get a DL?

Or I have high standards and see the ship for no more then what it is? I applause his use of curve techniques and use of aegis. But beyond that the ship does not impress me.Master Chief wrote:Either your salivary glands are not working properly, or you need a stimulant (like a plate of cookies).Lizzie wrote:But I'm not drooling yet.
Of course I don't believe it's a finished work. I wonder how it'll look then.

Now thats quite something. Guess we are gonna need something to counter it with when it's finished.

Lizzie is right in the sense that it's not a particularly original design. It just has a lot of shiny lights and flashy things that make it look spiffier than it actually is. It actually isn't quite what I wanted to build, and I had a more elaborate hull shape planned out but I couldn't quite get it to look right so I scaled it back to what is currently there.
I'm currently trying to think of interesting ways to flesh out the grey filler spaces to give the ship. They're mostly there just because there needs to be ship between one white line and the next white line right now, so it's a bit bland. Also what you can't see from those pictures is that there's a lot of repetition going on, especially in the two inner curves that span the length of the ship, that I'm not really proud of.
Another thing I'm not so fond of is that having so many aegis deflectors makes the ship looks like it's covered in warts. Sure, I could stick all of them in one place, but then I'd have nasty lines going everywhere, so I'm also currently thinking of a way to try to cover that up.
Anyway on to the responses.
@Derekiv: The aegised gradients are actually anywhere from 3-7 pieces of section 16 shrunk down a lot and stacked close together with a larger overlap toward the center. For some colors of aegis, this blue included, apparently it tends to overlay and gets naturally brighter. However, the center bar of each set has a couple of extra white aegis applied to it to give it a better gradient effect, so really it's just one piece with several deflectors assigned to it.
@MC: It'll probably be a few days at least before I get around to finishing it, got a CS project that I have to finish before the weekend. I'll get it uploaded once i get around to detailing it and sticking guns on it.
It's getting rather annoying to edit now as all the aegis is lagging the ship maker horribly, but it's getting there.
P.S.
Long post is long.

Here you go:

It's more webby and less plasma-ey close up, as it's because of the distortion on the zoom that makes it all fuzzy looking.
EDIT: Oops, I stretched the screen a bit with that picture so I rotated it to be vertical. Here it is sideways if you don't feel like turning your head:

Impressive.
I don't believe seraph lost, but the fact is that it's not about win or loss. You brought something very new to the table. Thank you for making it real before me some of the concepts I thought were great for the next step in ship making. Epic win. hmm....I'll have to work on my secret weapon some more.
... Epic win.
Still...no one will forget what you achieved here.
... Epic win.

Blue pieces with the same cool ice colour as the highlights, wedged carefully as to provide an outline within the fill.
