The Chain Ship Project

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Ya thats pretty nice. Some of those designs scared me for awhile, not because they were bad but because they were such radical departures from the original... Still not a fan of the 3s by the main engine but otherwise looking good.

also I'm pretty sure a 10-click ship needs more than 1200 hp, unless it has yet to be balanced or will be balanced against stock? Haven't been reading enough of the comments...I'll go back and check...

Let's try this again.

With weapons in ShipBuilder:

Battle pics of armor-piercing rounds ripping some wings off.

Something seems to have gotten messed up with the weasels, though . . . even at default bullet speed and turning, the submunitions blow themselves up instantaneously. Is there a known reason for this?

Here's the string: weapon|Weasel|135|1|4|180|200|-1|2000|3|-1||14013866|-1|5|25|-1|-1|-1|1|1

DL when everything gets fixed.

Anyone want to suggest weapons/modules/effects they want on this ship? Should I put the laser lawn mower wings back on?

Lawnmowing Laser?

And it's actually got sidewinders. I'm shocked.

:idea:

Burst actually sets the lifetime for weasel submunitions, apparently. That might explain the difficulties some people ran into with weasel mines. Anyways, I expect you to use this new information innovatively, CT.

Battles = epic.

DL = right here.

Pics = down there.

Subspace vortecies swirl around the battle as The main cannons lay down pain.

The .sb3 for this ship is 468 KB, so I just put up the .shp. Since I'm the last person going, if anyone wants to say something, do it now.

Y'know there's this whacky thing called "zipping" that can shrink 1mb .sb3 files down to less than 150k. :?

Oi vey, 468 -> 39.5 kb. Not exactly an efficient file format, is it?

No, it's really not. Which is why .shp files are so much smaller.

The difference is that .sb3 is a "state-save" file, built into all GM games. It simply sweeps all the data from the game's current state into a bin and saves it. .shp files are different, they hold only the weapon/section strings plus parenting data, and are written like .txt files. th15 could easily write code into the shipmaker to read and write only .shp, but he chose not to. And as we know, GM is inefficient at almost everything except the actual making of the game.
