Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

For the time being I won't be remaking the other ships, but instead I'm going to work on the stats on what I've remade so far so they operate better. The way these ships moved just now pissed the living hell out of me, so I'm changing speed / manuverability so they better follow the "High speed, low drag" concept, they will no longer be able to immediately change course while staying in the same direction.
The speeds of all the ships have been increased slightly, (The Crusader's had to be DOUBLED... ) so you can One: Get around a little more quickly, and Two: So you can see the new uber blue color on the thruster exhaust (It's no longer solid blue, and has this really sweet burning effect when sitting still).
I'm also putting the engine penalties back onto the ships, so they'll lose their overall ability to move and turn as well as they normally would, I just tested this on the Curtana, and it's pretty much perfect; the rest of the ships will soon follow before I remake more ships.

For ship making, I'll probably make a new ship with the classification of Arsenal Ship - something along the lines of a Destroyer / Cruiser-sized ship with, basically, FUCKING BEES missile style. A Pocket Battleship might also follow, that all depends.

Sound good?

To give an idea of my Arsenal Ship, (I really do things out of order of what I say I'm going to do. ) this is a weapons tester (Six Section 26s, wewtness) that displays what it should be capable of doing if it was on an actual design. I'm thinking for weapons placement there will be five twin-set missile launchers on each side, to equal ten launchers per side, for a total of 20. The intended purpose is to follow the design concept that I read while first looking at what an Arsenal Ship was: A Battleship / Battlecruiser hull completely retrofitted to house as many as up to 500 long-range missiles, to deal cataclysmic damage to ships while out of their range of fire.
The design I'm making will allow for two methods of firing: One is facing the enemy directly to allow the entire salvo to be launched, this can only be done effectively from medium - long range or else the missiles will overshoot and miss the target completely, this allows for heavy damage along a very wide spread, as shown here.

Image
The minimal range I believe is 3,000, while the maximum is 5,000.

The second firing method is broadsiding the enemy, which allows only half of the missiles to be fired at once but can be fired at short range because of the dramatic difference in accuracy, this is also effective against smaller targets or to put critical damage on a specific point, such as a heavy weapons mount, an example of this firing method is shown here.

Missile stats are still being worked on, I think a good way to make it more random looking would be to have varied fire rates, and it should look more spread out when the actual ship is built.

Bad Boy's the only one I can think of who's gone this far with missiles...

Holy Shoot! Thats more than my Hailstorm can do (It only fires 100 per Missile Launcher, With little Homing Capabilities).

I should perhaps start running then?

Effective point defense should be able to dampen the poential damage and shielding would render it almost useless, plus the reload time will be horrific (Really long) so they're not relied upon, just used as a support ship. Shouldn't really be anything to worry about.

Now a ship armed with an automatic Equalizer...would be bad.

I did? I don't remember that, but I'll take your word for it on what ship or ships did I do this?

Anyway, the missiles look awesome, I like the different firing modes, and I look forward to a proper ship for it.

i came up with something similar, it was not as well done though as i am still learning modding weapons.

it was a missile/rocket array, i made it to be used with my battle station. kind of like a weapons platform but smaller

Oh yes, I remember now, the 360 degree 720 missile burst, the shapes you could make with that were crazy. Thanks for reminding me, I'll add that to my list of BSF shit I have to work on (that list consists of everything in my signature).

I realized something went horribly wrong, the ship's the size of the Shashka, which wasn't intended. So the name's being changed to the Schiavona class Corvette, still operating as a weapons testbed.

wow your fleet truly is an inspiration. i don't have the skill or motivation to make a huge fleet.

Ever thought of making really teeny tiny fighters. (so i don't get the ugly blue dot i use the shrunk civilian core and keep shrinking all those parts and weapons so you have a small craft that can be above really basic at the same time. (sure is fun with little craft fighting around the large ones.)
