Shipyard of the Anubites

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Shipyard of the Anubites

Post by Wuggles »

So, hello BF. Just signed up to share my creations with the world. I'm not much of a story teller so I don't have a backstory for my ships, but I took their names for the Egyptian pantheon so I could always run with that. Anyway:

Image
The Apep

Its powerful side engines allow quick turning, however its rear thruster is lacking, limiting its top speed. Its main role is suppression of smaller enemy forces, being armed with 3 Demeter launchers and an array of Pulse cannons for blanketing the field with beams. 4 Particle cannons provide meager point defense, and 1 Gatling Blaster in the event of a ship of equal side to tear through its hull.

Image
The Bes (aka "Bessy")

A sluggish brute, Bes, or affectionately known as Bessy, is a thickly plated ship despite her size. Its name, Ballistic Elimination System, is quite self explanatory. A simple switch however, and those Turrets can provide great cover fire for smaller ships and she is able to hold her own against more combat oriented ships.

Image
The Menthu

Armed to the teeth, the Menthu dominates entire armadas. Its outer hull is well armored, however its weapons are not, and so can be disarmed, especially accompanying its slow turning speed. This all neglects the fact of its main weapon, The Eye of Horus. A incredibly powerful rail gun, the Eye can pierce ships to their center and destroy them in a few shots. Rather a cannon then a ship, the Menthu is an awe inspiring sight as it fires.

Well there we are, my first 3 ships. So what do we think?

-Quick edit: Uh yeah, so I'm not too sure how to balance them hp wise so they are all still at 300. Some insight on that would be particularly helpful.

We think that those are some nice first time ships, and we really like the glow effects. We think that the weapon count is a little high, and we would recommend get rid of about 10% of the guns. We also think that the Bes could be smoothed out a little bit more.

Yeah, I would agree about the weapons now that I look at them. And Bes could use some prettying up, hah, much obliged.

you did alot of things usually only done by vets, and you did them pretty well! I'm never a fan of clawships but its good looking and the side engines are probably fairly unique.

If j+l are rotating the sections in too big of a jump, you can manually edit the rotation value of each section, right down to several decimal places. Same goes for positioning. And as far as HP goes, just remember that each section gets its own hp based on the core hp. The further away a section is from the core, the less hp it will have. Also, sections behind the core will have lower hp. HP really isn't the health as in other games, where bigger ship = more HP, but instead functions more like armor rating, where tougher, yet possibly smaller ship = more armor.
It also really depends on what other fleets you're trying to balance your ships out to. Find an HP level that works nicely when fighting an even fight with those other ships.

- Thanks Raul :)
- Well that explains a lot natan, My smaller ships were piercing through the outer armor faster then the other way around. And how does one fine tune the turning/positioning?

These are really good ships, and for a newbie, they're amazing! Well done, and welcome to the Battleships Forever forums, enjoy your stay, and keep up the quality work.

To fine tune rotation (and to customize weapons), look in the edit tab in the shipmaker (next to the list of sections and weapons, and right below the add tab). Also, are the weapons modded?

Thanks Bad Boy, the only modded weapon is the Eye of Horus on Menthu. Its fires 5 1000 damage beams that pierce 10 sections, so 500 damage a section for 10 sections. Its also blue. Oh and Apep's demeters are 5 damage and 10% chance of being destroyed.

I hereby classify the first and third ships as tasty. In a good way.
