New Stuff and Previews:

Grindstone
Image
The Jagatharians main light medic craft, the Grindstone is a welcome sight to any pilot in the Jagatharian Navy. Using its two nano-field projectors, it uses focused beam technology to actually melt the armor around the battle damage to seamlessly add the repair plate. The craft is lightly armed due to the heavy power requirements of the nano-field projectors. The Gatling battery is main by a crew of two: one gunner and one power monitor. It is the power monitors job to make sure the gun doesn't overheat or draw too much power away from the nano projectors.

Mauler
Image
One of the examples were Pirates corrupt a ship from its previous function to serve there purposes. During corruption, one of the nano-field generators is removed to free up power for more weapon systems. The additional 3 beam weapons give it a greater punch than the uncorrupted Grindstone, but at the cost of a smaller survivability. The plasma cannon is the Pirates first foray into developing new weapons systems. The basic principle takes a mass of energized helium atoms compresses it until it reaches the temperature it would be plasma if it wasn't compressed, add a small charge to the ball to keep it stable and then release is out using a coilgun. It results in a highly unstable projectile that gives off a high radiation load that bleeds through shielding.

Back Story:

Jagatharian History:
Originally a colony settle from the original Earth, the planet started to prosper with the discovery that the soil causes all Terran life forms to live exponentially longer. Made fortunes exporting the planet's trees, which were what created the soil. Eventually the inevitable happened: the mass wave of immigration. With the rising prices of Jagatharian trees and soil, the middle class man could no longer afford it. They saw immigrating as an easy way to live forever. As the ships started heading towards Jagathar, the Jagatharians closed there borders and enforced a immigration blockade. After 1 day any unauthorized ship heading towards Jagathar would be destroyed with extreme prejudice. After the first hundred foolish immigrants ignored this warning and were Killed, the other immigrants realized that the Jagatharians were serious, and they gave up there foolish venture. Jagathar then opened its border to merchant vessels and selected immigrants. The selection process for the new immigrants was designed to make sure the only the best and the brightest became a citizen. Each year, the selection process got harder and harder as the number of slots went down.

Soon, it was realized that anyone born on Jagathar had no need to remain to have an extended life-span. Suddenly, every expecting mother wanted to be on Jagathar, however temporarily, to have there children. The Jagatharians once again only allowed the best and brightest to enter, but this time the slots were pretty much infinite. In Jagathar, any body who has a physical or mental defect, they are sent to a hospital and stay there until a treatment comes out that can make them normal. Children without defects, but who cannot pass the mandatory I.Q. test are trained to be in the military or be somebody who's job doesn't require a lot of intelligence.

Manticorian History:
A once small colony with little in the way of economy or of a Navy. That was until a wormhole was discovered nearby. With the ability to transfer ships almost instantaneously to the other end of the wormhole, the wormhole was an enormous boost to Manticorian trade. Scientists immediately started to research this wormhole in great detail.

Discovery:
With the new influx of research money the wormhole study field was the best place to get a job. One day, a junior scientist accidentally took a reading of the wrong sector of space. To his infinite surprise, there happened to be another worm hole in the system. He Quickly ran the instrument in a full sweep of the system. He looked at the readings, astonished. “There must be at least six wormhole termini!” he thought to himself. After compiling more information of the locus of the junctions, he presented his results to the queen. He immediately became a respected scientist, and the Wormholes created a huge source of revenue for the Star Kingdom of Manticore.

New Movement:
When the pirates found the resource rich planet which was formally uninhabited, they struck gold. And they found some old engineer willing to make the occasional ship for them in return for money. They immediately decided to build a ship yard in orbit, firmly anchoring their ownership of the plant. The engineer quickly revealed the Thorn and Dagger class ships. The pirates immediately produced a trial run of the ships. They found them up to there standards (who are they kidding??? They have no standards) and started to mass produce them.

End of the New Movement:
The pirates went back to the engineer and asked for some more ship designs. He told them he would have them soon. Six T-months (Terran months) later the pirates came back for the designs. Turns out the new designs were nothing like the original ones. After some questioning he revealed he actually never had designed the plans. They had been designed by a colleague. After his colleague won huge resource grants for his designs, the engineer killed his colleague, stole the plans, and had been hiding out on this planet ever since. Needless to say, the pirates were disappointed in him and promptly chucked him out the nearest air-lock. This was the end to the pirate new movement.

Jagatharian Fleet:

Missile Straffer:
Image
A light ship designed to annoy the enemy and be a needle in there flank.
But in swarms this craft can be deadly.

Slicer:
Image
Capitalizing on an experimental energy core, this ship is loaded with
weapons. One problem is the fact that they have very little armor.
They have a very short life expectancy. Pilots of these ships like to
congregate in swarms , making it more likely to survive. These groups of pilots send there least damaged craft to the front allowing the lightly
damaged craft to head to the rear of the pack and the heavliy damaged
craft to retreat to a repair ship.

Assault Boat:
Image
The Jagatharian equivalent of the Hestia, the assault boat is a ship
designed to live out fire fights and be the backbone of the fleet.

Kondar Missile Cruiser:
Image
A large ship designed to take out opponent capital ships, the Kondar
Missile Cruiser has a heavy armament. Able to dispense 18 missiles in
three seconds it is known for its ability to create precision holes in the
enemies armor.

Pirate Fleet:

Old Movement

Hunting Skiff:

Image
The pirates best friend, these ships patrol in groups of two or three,
supervised by one Skiff Leader. The pirates love these ships due to there
speed and enormous cargo hold for salvage. All pirate recruits start in this
craft.

Skiff Pack Leader:

Image
A slightly more powerful ship than the Hunting Skiff, the Pack Leader is,
the ship given to a skiff pilot you has recover 250,000 credits worth of
salvage, killed 25 enemy ships, or gained favor from a Pirate Lord.
With a much higher survival rate than the plain skiff, pirates always enjoy
this command position.

Attack Pinnacle:
Image
A light Ship, roughly equivalent to half a Hestia Alpha, the attack pinnacle is one of the few ships that the pirates made completely from salvaged
parts. Made of the same pieces has a Hestia, except for the minning
beams. A flaw in the design was noticed; the side by side point defense blasters end up focusing on the same target projectile, making them highly
inefficient.

I like the look of the Manticorians, they look more sleek compared to the Jagathar's somewhat clunky, low techish look.

Also, now that you've created a new thread for these ships, will you tell me why the "Pirate New Movement" are entirely black while the old ones are primarily white?

It is because the pirates got a new shipyard. I still plan to continue the Old Movement, but not as much.

I see. Fair enough, a new shipyard is a fine reason to change colour scheme. Anyway, keep up the good work (where are the manticorian dreadnoughts?)

You make the sizes sound a little wrong, it should say teams of recruits.

Th15 stated there could not be fighters because they would be only one or two pixels long, that means a demeters bigger than the average house.

I love the old movemnet pirates though....

@Joss:Who ever said that the ships couldn't be automated to the point where it was piloted by one person? And I can set my own scale if I want.

@Everyone: Due to almost everyone here saying they like the old movement better, I decided to end the new movement. I'll still produce an occasional ship for the old movement but I'll mostly work on the Manticorian and Jagatharian Fleets for now.

Oh and big news: I finally added some back-story!

Ok just a point.

Just somthing like this may be better.

The pirates best friend, these ships patrol in groups of two or three,
supervised by one Skiff Leader. The pirates love these ships due to there
speed and enormous cargo hold for salvage. Recruits are oraganised into teams of twenty and given a sciff, they learn to work or die.

A slightly more powerful ship than the Hunting Skiff, the Pack Leader is,
the ship given to a skiff crew that has recovered 250,000 credits worth of
salvage, killed 25 enemy ships, or gained favor from a Pirate Lord.
With a much higher survival rate than the plain skiff, pirates always enjoy
this command position.

And about automation, surley pirates could automate ships to a point however if they only use salvage to buld ships then automation parts may not always be available.

The jagthar backstory is great, i love the bit about hospitals.

YAY!!! I hold sway over people!!!

No but seriously, awesome dreadnought, and thanks for making a dreadnought like I asked you to (many times). To be honest, I'm quite elated that my pestering and requests achieved something, something awesome!

As for the ship itself, beautiful. You pulled off the "cobbled together mess" look extremely well. I have one suggestion and one question (which isn't really necessary but I'll ask it all the same).
Suggestion: Make the white section 6 at the back slightly bigger (so it can fit a thruster) and put a thruster with 90degree arc offset, 1 exhaust frequency, 0 effect, and grey thrust on it on it. That way, it would look like an exhaust pipe (which I'm assuming it is).

Question: I'm assuming it's not armed with invisible weapons, so when will you arm it/have you armed it but not posted pics of the weapons?

The dreadnought is actually one I made a while ago, but couldn't save so I took a screen shot. I then remade it again and it wouldn't save, so I put the picture away. Finally decided to just make it.

On the Armament Question: I seem to have a problem where I build a ship and forget to arm it. I'll probably do that today, along with some new Manti ships.

Me likes the new dreadnought.

Oh yeah, I remember when you had that problem with being unable to save the ship. I completely forgot about that until you reminded me. I look forward to the Manticorian ships. Also, how about a Manticorian backstory?
