The Star-Crusader Fleet

Image

The Star Crusader fleet is a specialized Terran Elite, determined to exterminate the alien menace that had recently shown up in the galactic area. Their ships are both fairly rugged and elegantly contoured, and the fleet is mainly composed of two different types of ship:
The stout Templar is a Heavy Assault Destroyer. With fair speed, an arsenal of Pulse and Blaster turrets, and deflectors, the Templar can drive back any sort of enemy ship with superior armor and melee power.
The thin Crusader is a Battleship, commandeered by the Captains and Commodores of the fleet. It's powerful thrusters allow it to quickly show up to the fray within seconds, and it's in-line armaments deal out devastation from afar. It's protected by a mix of deflectors and PD systems, and its flanks were made specifically to absorb damage from the side by utilizing the deflectors.

I think it was answered somewhere allready but probably got lost during the server thingie. Can we enter a ship in both categories? If so I might have a design for the Fanship Category, else I'll just post it as a Custom Ship.

The limit is one ship per category. So you may enter one ship into the Custom Ship category, one into the Fan Ship category, and a Fleet into the Fleet category, if you so desire.

Allrighty. Here it goes. Let's see if you can guess which ship it is along the way as Layer comes on top of Layer. I think I went totally nuts on this one as I even modelled the interiors. Oh well.

Does it ring a bell?

Allright.

Take my love, take my land, take me where I can't stand. I don't care, I'm still free... you can't take the sky from me.
Take me out to the black, tell them I ain't coming back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.
Yes, it's everyones favorite Firefly Transport Ship, the Serenity.
In case that really doesn't ring a bell: That means you've missed out on one of the greatest Science Fiction Series ever. Sadly you're not alone in missing it, I missed it too because it was very poorly advertised and canned halfway through the first season.
Which is sad, I find myself amongst the fanbase of that series after stumbling upon it by accident (actually I heard a friend talk about that Serenity Movie and how much it rocked).

FAQ:
Question: DUDE, where are the effing weapons?
Answer: The Serenity is a civilian Transport Ship and as such possesses no weapons.

Question: Liar! I can see a weasel gun at the rear of the craft!
Answer: While the Serenity possesses no direct weapons, it once used its Interstellar Engine and superior movement to destroy a reaver craft by getting it into their engine wash. The weasel simulates this effect.

Question: Oh, okay... and why are there Aegis Deflectors? They make no sense!
Answer: Correct, they make no sense. They're purely aesthetic and used to create some sort of engine glow.

Question: Where can I download it?
Answer: Right here

Hooray for Firefly :D.

Anyways, here's my entry : the Enplus-class destroyer (nicknamed the Entropy for it's talent of causing massive enemy-entropy across fairly wide areas).

The Battle of Ysing-Quon is commonly known to be one of the greatest displays of human ferocity and ability - yet history books tend to avoid the fact that the corps once again came to save humanity from the brink of destruction. The same class ship that single-handedly assured victory ninety years ago is now availible to you, the consumer - at drasticaly reduced prices, and drasticaly increased weaponry. Now for only 20-

Enplus/Entropy

Enjoy :D (this'd go into the original, single ship category.

Edit: The ship is centered in the Cortex Command universe, though the backstory and all themes related to the ship are entirely original. I just figured it'd be nice to put whatever I wrote into context.

And as a final send-off to Cortex, it's built upon the civilian core which few other ships are - just to demonstrate the differences in origin.

I'm thinking of redesigning it or making an all-new design, maybe.

I spy a winner =D

That ship is awesome in two aspects: both the accuracy of the model and the fact that it looks impressively amazing even if it wasn't a model.

I can see several problems off the top of my head. First, what you have labeled the engine is not actually the engine. Second, the big octagonal room off the dining room is on the wrong side. Third, you have the entrance to the bridge on the wrong side of the corridor. Fourth, on the corridor to the bridge is a staircase to the cargo hold that you missed. Fifth, the cargo hold is smaller than what you have, and the med-bay is a bit bigger. Other than that, though, everything seems pretty good.

Here's a link to the best map I could find that doesn't cost money.

Oh stop complaining =P if everything is on the wrong side then it can just be the bottom of the ship ^.^

I'm not complaining. I'm noting errors in the design so that he has time to fix it, and thus not get a low accuracy score when it comes time to judge the ships.
