Kaleshi Ships

Archives for ships and fleets. 'nuff said. Most of the ships here are very very old and will not work in current versions of BSF or SM. You have been warned!

Kaleshi Ships

Post by Kingoomieiii »

Ship designs I'm working on. Background is, there was a war [insert date, random star-system sounding location], between the Terran navy and the Kaleshi after they unwittingly began terraforming a human colony (they didn't check).

After 5 years of heated combat, a truce is reached, brought about by catastrophic losses on both sides. A large portion of the Kaleshi race is allied with the Terran navy (the non-pirate part), but there are pockets that still want us really, really gone.

Image

On the bottom, left to right, are the Larvae, Drone, and Worker. Above (behind?) them is the Hive Mind, a mobile egg sack, basically. (I know, it's been done. Actually, the Hive Mind was made by a friend of mine, and the rest of the Kaleshi ships came after. I added the gluon bolter as a tactical weapon- they tie up Impeders like nothing else, allowing the drones to do their work.)

Image

The Shield Mantis (set to Broadside), used to defend smaller ships, and the Asteroid Miner. The mining lasers on the Miner will f*#k you up- damage is set to 30. Reminds me of a tick.

And here's mom, the Queen. Terrans as a species have only seen 13 individual Queens, and 4 of those are deceased (3 after the war ended). It's rumored that there are more- MANY more.

The Queen's back section used to be COVERED in Demeter pod launchers, but to be honest, it sucked to micro them.

Comments? Yeah, I know the Hive Mind and the Queen are Aegis-heavy, but I don't like how regular Deflectors jump around however they want.

All of these ships are embedded in the picture of the Queen. Open that picture in WinRAR- no lie.

Double click one to select all on screen and hit Ctrl and a number. Groups 'em. ;)

Nice designs and interesting cosmetic-yet-defensively-functional use of Aegis fields.

On that last one, how did you make some of the demeter launchers bigger than the others?

Apparently, if you increase the stats past a certain level, the weapon grows bigger by itself.

If you modify a weapons stats, it gets bigger. It doesn't matter how much you modify them, in my experience. Just modifying certain things makes the weapon bigger. So the larger ones would be modified demeters, and the smaller ones are probably unmodified.

Yep. The bigger ones have an 8-drone clip, if I remember correctly (can't install on campus computers).

In the changelist for the ship editor, it mentions a bug where modded guns would get larger EVERY TIME you edited them, or something like that. I'm new to this program, week or two, so I wasn't there.

So they are not ships but space-faring insects?

Or simply are their ships modeled after insects? (Perhaps organized like their own insect hive?)

Space-faring insects. As the war started with an accidental terraforming, it's assumed that some portion of their population lives on planets, but they don't let us into their territory, so we've never actually seen it.

Just double click on it I guess, a picture viewing program should take over after you extracted it.

Gotcha. It just wasn't under either "Recommended Programs" or "Other Programs" so I gave up on it ^.^

Easier to ask than waste my time going into my Programs folder and clicking on it... actually, asking took longer, but meh.

Any modifications to the reload value will do it, if I remember rightly.
