My entry for the original ships: The Colossus. Its my biggest ship yet =D


The Colossus (the name given to it by its first observers) is a massive enigmatic vessel not affiliated with any known organization or group. Truly a one-ship fleet, this technological marvel soars through space, never needing to rest due to its enigmatic self-sustaining nature. A glance at the ship reveals that it is of Terran origin, yet when the Colossus first made itself known near Arcturus, the shock from the sight of such a huge vessel shook the star colony even more than Nagaya's third flagship. Thankfully, the Colossus had no intention of engaging the Hecates and Athenas hastily deployed, and continued its journey into deep space. No one knows where it came from, who its crew are (or if it even has any), or its motives. It appears that the aliens were just as perplexed. According to intelligence reports, the aliens apparently assumed that the Colossus was a new Terran superweapon. A brief clash between the Colossus and the aliens gives some insight into its abilities.

The first thing to be noticed about the Colossus, other than its size, is its speed. Two primary (central) and two secondary (wing-mounted) engines propel the Colossus to speeds comparable to a Terran destroyer. In addition, in battle the Colossus was observed to have incredible agility for its size by adjusting the output of its engines. The Colossus' weaponry is very similar to current Terran weaponry, but also includes some aspect of alien tech, such as the Aegis deflectors and pulsar guns. The Colossus is relatively vulnerable to rear attacks, but still has enough to fend off smaller ships. Large battleships will not be able to catch up to it, and engaging it from the front is a futile effort. Observers have also noticed the powerful self-regeneration systems onboard the Colossus, which combined with its extremely thick armour makes it nigh-invincible. All in all, not something you want to make an enemy of.

I'm liking our entries so far, but we need more, particularly in the Fan Ships and the Fleets Categories. There are eleven days remaining until entries close, so there's still plenty of time, and I encourage everyone to compete.

Hm? I'm not re-editing it yet. I entered it the way it is and I won't edit things afterwards, least to not cause confusion.
About the inaccuracy:
Firefly wasn't exactly consistent about things. For example in one Episode the engines are close enough to the entrance that they can kick a gangster into it. In other episodes it's like a hundred meters away.

Section Guide:

Section A: Hangar

The Hangar of the Omega is a Zero Gravity Environment, designated for star-craft support, communications Array Housing, Main Weapons and Primary Storage Bays

Section B: Habitation

The Habitation is the hart of the ship, containing the Command and Control, Habitation, Life support, Crew Quarters and Primary Computer Banks.

(The middle section rotates so in this case for BSF I decided to have it captured as the rotation reached its horizontal level)

Section C: Engineering

Engineering contains the Ion Drives, Jump Drives (Not Present ingame due to the fact that they work differently) Primary and Secondary Fuel Tanks and the Aft Weapons Array.

Come on, people! I've seen tons of GREAT ship designs posted in the last week or so, but nigh on none of them have been submited to the competition! If you think your stuff is good, you should submit it here, and let it be judged!

You could win... well... nothing, really, except the honour of saying "My ship came first/second/third place in the Annual BSF Beauty Pageant"... which is pretty cool, right?

Anyway, there's still a few days left to submit ships. If necessary, I'll extend the closing date a few more days, but I hope it won't need to come to that.

I am happy to scrap the Fleet and Fan Ships categories, if people would prefer that. Very few people seem interested in submiting ships to either of those categories anyway.
