Hi. I used to play BSF several months ago, and had created a fleet, the Vol'Nir Federation Star Navy, that was supposed to enter the Great War, but was scrapped before I switched to playing other games. That fleet went almost entirely unnoticed.
Anyway, I just decided to drop in again, and updated my game while looking around the forums. I found ArcaneDude's Martian Rebellion fleet and downloaded it.
I liked the concept of resource-light simple ships that can actually be used in large fleet battles with a reasonable FPS. The Martian ships, apart from being great designs, are simple enough to actually use(unlike MRA-level monsters)! To try it out, I played an AI vs AI encounter of the Martian fleet against the old semi-stock small IVL ships. The the whole thing ran at double-digit FPS, something not possible with MRA-level battles.

So this inspired me to create a new fleet of simple ships balanced with the Martian fleet and the old, small IVL vessels. I'll be calling it the Predator Fleet for the lack of a better name, and all ship classes will be named after predatory cats. So here's the first one, built around an old half-baked chassis that I found lying around in my folders from waybackwhen:
Leopard-Class Light Cruiser
Missiles launching:
Guns blazing:
Armament:
- 2 Antimatter Shaped-Charge Missile Launchers
- 4 Rotary Ion Pulse Drivers in 2 turrets
Defenses:
- 4 Ion Pulse PD Turrets
- Dedicated electromagnetic shielding for main turrets
- Frontal ablative armor
In 1-on-1 tests, it's been capable of
- Defeating a Hoax-class for the loss of one ablative armor section.
- Stalling indefinitely against an Untruth-class after KOing it's frontal weapons.
- Getting owned by a Conspiracy-class after taking out 2 blasters and 3 flak guns.
So I classified it as a light cruiser. The Ion Pulse Drivers do the same DPS as stock Blasters, but are much better at penetrating PD, and they look cooler.
I demand some C&C this time around.
